think you could find half a dozen incidents that could have changed the game. if it had come off he would have been a hero. if korki and snitch had not tackled pryce and let him go over the line they would have been damned. if danny had not kicked out on the full... if if if. we won end of story we won 2 points. as far as jd is concerned, the man is a great captain. leads from the front. gives 150%, his stats stand up pretty good against players 5 years younger than him. busts more tackles than most . i would give him another season gladly. an inspiration to all, an example to many. truly is captain fantastic on the field and off.
You won't find anyone agreeing more than me that if is the biggest word in the English language & Friday's result was chip paper on Saturday. The future is all that really matters & the simple fact is that JD is not the future. Some have criticised the signing of Newton because "he's too old" but he's 3 years younger than JD.
If JD was with (say) the Bulls now - giving the sort of performance he's given for us over the years - and we were considering signing him for one last hurrah next year, there'd be no end of the posts criticising such a signing. In the era of the salary cap, there is simply no room for giving contracts for sentimental reasons. JD has been a fantastic servant to the club, but we need to have a squad in 2010 that is better than this year's and provides a sound foundation for the squad in 2011 & beyond. I'd love to see JD continuing to be involved with the club - just not as part of the playing staff.
