Agree to pretty much all of these viewpoints

Game management. Better plays on the last tackles, and also closing the opponents down on their last plays. Closing down opponents kickers has to be better. Going back to our kicks, we don’t kick many 40/20s and drop goals, and especially in comparison to other top four sides, and most of our kicks go straight to the full back or winger. Whereas, our wingers and full backs are often turned around.

Better game management is mainly about the pivots, and if we want better halves, then yes, these will cost more andI think on the budget we’re on, pretty much do ok.

I wouldn’t say though,given where we were at last year, that we need to spend a further £400-£500k. Here is food for thought, a further 1000 adult fans on our gate, we would be around half way to the £500k figure. Continued stability and improvement on the pitch, along with some positivity and actual progress regarding the stadium go go towards helping that

Going back to the original post. The thing we lack most is that we play the game pretty clean and honest.

If we had a sheighthouse player or two like bateman or jake connor who could wiggle and squirm in every tackle to con the ref and milk penalties that would be a great help.

Also a cynical player like o'Loughlin who everytime he tackles someone the tackled player seems to have a loose carry.

You can have all you ball handling loose forwards, fast wingers, clever half backs. However the greatest gift is to be able to con the ref and milk penalty after penalty. Stand back from the game and take a close look at the perpetual top teams and you will see this is their greatest asset.

Sometimes we seem a bit too honest (naive)
A bit more vigor in trying to get up and play the ball would certainly help, coupled with decent completion rates.

With 50% possession (or better), we will trouble most sides.

Until the refs ref each game/player the same nothing will change regarding the 50/5o calls . Each ref has their own interpretation of things , you only have to watch the televised games to see this... Selective penalties depending on the player /club drive me mad .

Couldn't agree more cocker. I'm sure it is conditioned into referees that: "It's only little Wakefield Trinity , not a big team". The amount of offsides, forward passes and high tackles that your Leeds and Wigans get away with is unbelievable, and until (if ever) we get recognised as a top side we'll keep suffering.

“Big” team or not it shouldn’t matter one jot . Rules are rules and just need to be applied accordingly . It’s not what we are penalised for that gets me it’s when the opposition do the same thing and aren’t penalised . Like I say “selective “ penalties and it’s ruining the game .

Once again, cocker I agree 100%. Sadly it reflects what a greedy, cheating society we live in today where the underdog gets stamped on. I blame THATCHER!!!!!

I commented on this at the game today. Pulled us for head highs, but Leeds got away with them. Laying on in the tackle seemed ok for Leeds, but not for us. How slow did Leeds walk back for the kick off after our last try. Took an age for ref to stop the clock.
