Just my opinion of course.
This sounds ok, but in practice is fraught with difficulties. A piecemeal build could face many unknowns over years to come.
Having already being corrected by DC once this morning on the stadium subject, I guess I’ll have to keep my powder dry and Trust his and John Minards judgment.

So to get back to the point of the thread, I didn't get chance to reply to your post Dunk.

I agree with what you say but I think that is why I fall my way rather than yours. There is a lot to be said for getting as much done as quickly as you can and getting to the basic fit for purpose level straight away, but for me I think for the same reason, I'd like to get a top quality section done, so that if things change we can downgrade the later developments but still have a money generating flagship stand. It will look good on tv, it will attract people to the game and it could be used on weekdays.
If we have an all round stadium that get's us to criteria, we are improving things there is no doubt but it gives people a reason to stop and say that's enough, and we are left with the 20th century stand that Fish referred to rather than a 21st century one.

Of course either is better than what we have but I favour the development of the East Stand first.

Yes,the East Stand is an obvious first choice start. A few weeks ago at a Friday lunch at BV, I’m sure John Minards was guest speaker, he spoke a little without giving too much away re the development. He indicated East stand first phase and said how great it would look when television cameras filming from the West terrace. It’s possible other posters on here may have attended the same lunch and recall the speaker saying that.

I recall him saying that too.

Slight deviation from the thread, but is anyone aware as to where Bradford Bulls are getting their financial backing from for their new ground in two years time?

Have to say having visited Fylde for a football game, its a cracking stand with great facilities.
The Sports Bar they have underneath (and accessible to home & away fans) runs almost the entire length of the stand on the ground floor with corp boxes etc. above it.
I wonder if future awards dinners etc. would hopefully be held in the new east stand??

I remember a famous rugby league club had a similar bar but sadly the stand it was situated under had to be demolished due to the construction materials used.

Dont see the relevance of this post to the Fylde stand......
Its not the the case with theirs.

On the basis that this is a "just for fun" discussion, I'm with the "Benidorm flats go after East Stand" brigade. A small away stand, similar to Salford. West Stand last as you can't see it on the TV, and if you did it before an away stand behind the sticks, it will become the away stand. I want the sides back.

Also, once the East Stand is built, the flats will become redundant, presumably, so will be an empty eyesore (as opposed to the currently full eyesore).

In relation to the Fylde ground, I drive past that pretty regularly, and it does look a cracking ground, but it also attached to an Aldi, KFC, and something else too, which might give a hint as to the funding source.

Good point regarding the add ons. Although we wouldn’t have the space for a mini retail park there is some wiggle room.

I reckon you could attach a McDonalds to the main stand with a drive through without taking up to much space.

The club could run it as a franchise meaning we’d have no issues on match day. If done cleverly I see no reason why on match days an added service area can’t be added to cater for the main stands mass catering.

I’m not a huge fan of the brand, however, it’s a better and cheaper menu than the crap served up at most grounds. Hugely overpriced limp hot dogs and dry pasties!

I reckon it would go down very well with families.

I know the initial outlay on a franchise is pricy but we already have the land and with the support of fans we could do it. Also, that part of our city is currently not served by a major fast-food outlet.

Just a thought.
