If Crowther is playing, he can certainly do the defensive part of #9 while either of the Wood's are taking a breather, which would also give us cover for wing, FB and the halves and he's an absolute asset as a running "hooker" out of dummy half.
I know that the "modern" way is to have 4 forwards on the bench. However, IF we are to be cramming fixtures again, having some speed on the bench would be a great way to exploit tiring defences.
Hampshire is a great player but IMO, we have a better option at FB in Jowitt and hopefully a better option in the halves in Lino and as a winger, he would be behind Johnstone and Senior.
Again, if we are to be cramming fixtures, unfortunately, there are likely to be plenty of injuries, so, having players as versatile as Hampshire and Jowitt, will be a major plus.
