We dodged another bullet tonight I just hope that if we survive then the powers that be realise this must be the last time we penny pinch on player recruitment. We are already behind other clubs because we cannot sign or try to retain players until we know the league we are in.
The other problem is that the team likely to be coming up are considerably stronger than Toulouse if they go down which just adds to our survival problems next season.
We've got a couple of big names off the books next year in Johnstone and Toupou, which might help, along with one or two others. The success of Salford and Huddersfield does show however that paying for a good coach is a signing worth more than a couple of good players.
Having all we've said about Willie, the season end might turn out to show that Willie hasn't done a bad job, considering the money we have to spend on players. If he stays and we stay up, we can just hope that this year was his learning curve. Last week's result shows that he can motivate the players to execute a game plan (although I think Cas's problem was that Radford will have had them so fired up for the Hull game, for his own reasons, that maybe they didn't have enough steam left for us).
We need a good result on Saturday and a bad result for Warrington, so they are fired up for the Toulouse game. I'm hoping last night might have just popped the confidence of Toulouse, whereas maybe we will go the other way.
