The thing we do all agree, including Mopsey is that we are in a dream situation for a Wakefield fan, even those that remember the 60s. We have earned this by turning up when getting beaten 70-0 and still coming the week after, year after year.
I'm really excited for what Ellis and Powell can do for the club. Clearly we all, even I, who is openly all about the IMG stuff, want to just see the team winning and competing with the big guns. I don't think those days are too far away. I can't wait for that first game.
A skeleton was created by the previous BOD. Ellis now has chance to put meat on the bone. Without the previous BOD, he wouldn't. He's rich and he's shrewd, but he's not devine, he cannot raise the dead, he needed a start, and he still needs all the help he can get.
After the collapse of NM we were basically on life support, that ten million has got us into the recovery ward, that is the legacy of the previous board. Matt's legacy might be far more exciting, or at least we all hope so, but they all count. Nothing worthwhile is ever created solely by one person.
Why people can't give those people who came before some credit and respect baffles me. Even if they had actually been inept I can't see the point, but in this case they weren't.
Next time I see John or Michael or any of the rest of them, I'll give them a handshake, but they can buy the beers.
I don't really care if I ever meet Matt Ellis, all I know is that I believe he has a very good chance of being the man who finally brings this great club back to full health. My purchase of a season ticket will be my pledge of support. The expression 'the king is dead, long live the king' has been used for a thousand years when a new monarch is crowned, and for good reason, it works. Let the past be the past, and use all your energies to create a better future is what it means, and I think we should all buy into that sentiment.
That is the main problem, we want the first game now, As said we got relegated, yet I am so happy to be a Wakefield fan. The ground is going to look so different with people in the East Stand
It will be interesting, and a real show of intent. I think nothing has frustrated Wakefield fans over the years more than the inability of our teams to match expectations, and win those special games that get the club noticed. Winning million pound games is great, but in truth they are games between failed teams, where survival and not glory is the only reward. A Trinity team that goes out there to win for the joy of winning, and doing so because they want to be the best - most of us can't even remember that - we've had glimpses, but that's all.
If all goes as we hope, this new era should be fantastic fun.
In think that despite the fact that we have been relegated I'm feeling far more happy than I have for the last four seasons. Most of us, I'm sure, believe that we are on the threshold of a brand new era for Trinity and cannot wait for the new year. Oh! and by the way, nice to see vasty back in action like him or loathe him.
Really feel for the fans on this one, and so glad we're not in the same predicament.
Someone on the RWB Army page wree saying there is a possibility that they could lose their super league place, and be replaced by a championship club. If it were to happen and it to be us, although our squad is starting to come together, not sure how competetive it would be just now.
Also, if we were to continue working on the stadium, it might be to our benefit in doing so, if our crowds were a little lower, than what they would be for super league games.
Personally, I'd be looking if we could take any of their players, if they were to fit us, to reduce their salary cap spend

Got to agree, it is good to see vasty back.Had words with him my self but like most of us ,he loves the club

You’re in the hardest league to get out of. Good luck even with your IMG presents.

I don’t think there’s a single post on here, even from the most optimistic Trinity fan to indicate getting out of the championship will be easy and a foregone conclusion. As for our IMG ‘Presents’ they came as a result of hard work by the club management of the time and not as a gift.

Nobody doubts that. But I think even you would concede that as everyday passes we are looking stronger.
All any Championship team fan can ask for is that there team is one of those with a realistic chance of promotion. I think we would probably have been in that list even without Ellis, like a number of teams. Now we've nosed our way up the list, but for now it's all speculation. After all nobody thought London would do it, or that Fev would fail so badly, so that's proof positive that money doesn't always get results.
Mercenary though it sounds, I'd happily take Salfords place, sounds far easier.
