Didn't we apply to have a stand run the length of the western terrace and it got knocked back by the council? Which is why we then ended up with the small shed in the corner as the next best thing. Why would any other planning application to make changes down that side or to that end do anything else to belle vue be any different?

Maybe the council knocked it back on account of the false promises' made by Yorkcourt and thought it might be a waste of time and money with our impending move to Newmarket.

I don't think sixtogo has said anything that warrants being silenced - his original post is quite clearly an attack on the underhand tactics of the developer rather than anyone involved from the ST; that said, it's quite difficult to be critical of the process without being perceived to be being critical of the people representing the club and the supporters within that process.

I actually think he's reading the situation about right - the machinery of local government is virtually impenetrable at the best of times and despite the claims of transparency and accountability, officials will use it against you to get what they want - and they'll usually succeed. When Colin Mackie showed his hand, it became abundantly clear that there was to be no stadium, and that view was further compounded when Peter Box publicly shrugged his shoulders and said "it's nowt to do with us Guv."

I've got absolutely no faith that we'll get anything other than some kind of token hush-hush money to make improvements at BV; despite the Herculean efforts of TRB, IA et al, none of the people who can actually make it happen have shown any will to do so - as someone else has already said, the community, the club and the ST have been stitched up good and proper.

All that said - I do agree that the best approach until they've made that totally clear is to play along and not make any dramatic gestures; which is probably why TRB and co are the best people to be involved, rather than some of the more hot-headed posters on here.

If any kind of public protest is to be made it needs to be made now. We are just short of an hundred days away from a General Election. We have a short window of opportunity to make this a political issue. Both Ed Balls and Mary Creigh publicly backed this project and both MPs are now sitting on marginal seats. Basically they have to work there backsides of to get re elected. Make it clear that it was a SWAGS campaign that these developers have exploited and deceived. Contact all competing political party candidates and get each ones views on this and request support. Targeting these MPs will be far more effective than local lobbying especially after an election when the urgency is just not there for the politicians.

All very fair tbh.

I find it hard to be cross with anyone for thinking 'we'll get nowt', it's a valid view and easy to assume given where we are and how long its taken to get here.

No it was Sky because it would impede the view, so sorry you can't pin this on the council but I am sure some will.

I don't want to burst anyone's ego but this forum is at best frequented by about 50 members and from that probably 10 think it is their responsibility to defend the forum from those they consider unworthy who do not follow the perceived status quo.

With regards yesterday's meeting, it is apparent that the developers have still not come up with a solution and I doubt they have any interest in doing so then why do we continue to protect them. What action would they do that could be jeopardised by divulging details of yesterday's meeting. I hope they are not just dragging things out to allow them to sell more land for development before they walk away for good.

The longer it goes without a positive resolution the less likely it seems we will get anything out of all this, even though that won't be for the want of trying. I'd also be leaning towards action now but one thing MIGHT work in our favour. If the Cas stadium development gets knocked back then the pressure will still be on the council to provide community facilities. I would await the outcome of that meeting next month first to see if that gives us another stick to beat them with first. If they get the go ahead though then it is probably last resort time.

I'm not trying to pin anything on anybody just curious, tbh I have heard the rumour regarding sky before and dismissed it as a bit of mischief, If the council knocked it back surely it cannot have been because sky cameras could not get a good view, or was it sky who put pressure on the club and the council have never rejected any plans assuming any plans have been submitted in the first place.
