Ruining no, without him the club probably wouldn't be here. But he has probably taken the club as far as he can and we desperate for some extra investment from somewhere.

Club Statement:

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats can confirm that Brian Smith has resigned as Head Coach with immediate effect.

A press conference will take place at 12.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday) at Belle Vue Stadium. There will be no further comment at this time.

You can't expect massive improvements given the resources available. Gradual improvement with some setbacks along the way was always likely.

Obvs he doesn't think he's getting the backing he needs.

Couldn't agree more with your opening paragraph. Not a total surprise though as Smithy doesn't have a great track record for seeing out contracts.

The bloke is milking the club for all its worth why else would he be involved I can't remember seeing anywhere that he's a mad Wakefield fan . The sooner the fans on here realise the better and stop seeing him as some sort of savour

BBC Radio Leeds reports that Smith asked for his contract to be terminated after speaking to the Wakefield players on Tuesday morning.

When he was appointed I felt this was a change in fortunes for the club in a very positive way and while I don't know his reasons for resigning I feel very let down at the moment so until a statement is released I guess we will have to bit the bullet and wait
