As an aside I filled in a survey from the council with regards to Thornes Park stadium. Needless to say my response was they should look at incorporating retractable spectator stands into the design. A genuine community stadium.

I would like to see the plans for BV, and dont particularly care about the ridiculing from opposition supporters

A lot of work has been done on the project by Turner & Townsend a very credible Project Management/QS practice which won’t have come cheap.

I know Jonathan Schofield was fairly involved in the project too.

I’d anticipate Covid will have had the major impact on the scheme because if you don’t have to build now why would you?

Costs in construction are spiralling because firstly programs (time on site) are having to be extended due to social distancing etc so labour costs are going up, materials are harder to come by so their cost is going up.

Nobody in there right mind is going to build unless it is essential, and they are willing to pay over the odds for the work.

I don’t think Trinity fit into that bracket.

The work T&T have put in won’t be cheap so I’d say things will progress but only when the market returns to normal levels.

Correct.

There seems to be a bizarre mentality on here that we should be building whilst the ground in not being used.

This logic is fine if you are renovating your living room. Makes no sense at all for a major project that requires cash flow, credit and serious levels of construction.

Truth is we don’t know at this exact moment in time if spectator sports as we know them will ever be totally viable again - it’s that serious.

So why would any sane club start now or any sane bank back then.

Wimbledon have just opened their new stadium. Looks great but who knows when the first paying customer will enter it. It got built mainly pre Covid, they were both lucky and unlucky. If we started now we’d be unlucky and stupid.

Personally I don't expect construction to start, but it make sense to get planning sorted so that if/when the world gets out of this crazy idea that we can hide from a virus at least that will have been resolved.

IF the cash was in place and IF there was a defined date to have supporters back in the ground, it would make great sense to make ground improvements.
Just imagine being allowed back to watch AND having a new stand etc to go to - it would certainly give season ticket sales a boost.
However, the uncertainty is an absolute killer, on multiple levels.

Unfortunately, survival is no1, no2 AND no3 on the list.

I’m not sure if I entirely agree with you on this. Who wants to watch a gam of rugby on a building site?. Better to build when the place is empty.

Don't think that Vasty actually said that in his post.
Think the "not being used" was due to the current situation.

Don’t want to start splitting hairs Vastly, but this was your first paragraph.
