I think the American bit might be right, but not the other two. The perception I've always had is that she thought becoming a royal meant becoming a celebrity, and the American version is making simpering videos where you pull a very concerned face as you tell people how to live their lives, whilst doing the opposite. I think she was popular until she started preaching and was exposed as a hypocrite (preaching climate warning whilst swanning around on private jets, and holding hugely extravagant baby showers when preaching about poverty, travelling to it by private jet).
My guess is that she didn't realise that being a royal meant that they served us, not the other way around.
The American version of celebrity is not cutting ribbons on some leisure centre in a forgotten northern town, shaking hands with the puffed-up mayor as some bloke in a mac holds a brolly over your head. Kate gets it. She might loathe it for all we know, but she realises that it's part of the job, the reason they get the cash.
MM is the Kardashian version of the royal family, and I think it grates.
