To be technically correct a 10% increase in in fact a reduction when the current level of inflation is above 10% and likely to increase further, therefore it buys you less.

I'm pretty sure inflation wasn't over 10% when the offer was made.

If he was on peanuts to begin with it's no wonder HKR offer was acceptable.

On the other hand how many of us would turn 10% down.

Still not happy though.

Ellis,Westwood ,Hunte and Atkins were far better players than Batch when they left the club .Any body though the reason why no big club came in for Bach he is not good enough .Most of this season him and J C have been subed for the other one.Is it a case again of Wakefield fans building a player up to be something he is not .Me I am more worried about Gale coming across though we would have learnt our lesson with Brough and Gaskell No Gaskell as gone ok in the Centre but as lost it as a play maker

I don’t think Gaskell was ever a play maker. Think he’s always been more comfortable on the edges. I’m fine with Gaskell continuing at centre and pushing for a place there. We have Hall, Lyne, Gaskell which is okay as a starting point. Maybe another rotation centre would be good (I’d consider re-signing Croft and promoting that young centre from academy).

Can I ask where your confirmation that Gale is coming to trinity has come from? There was a brief rumour a month or more ago. It nothing since. It would of course not be a good option but your worried about something unconfirmed and that may not happen.

Obviously if Miller does go (I’d be okay with him staying another year) we need to make a quality addition to the halfbacks and would likely have to look for our own Brodie Croft from Australia.

The subject of Gale was due to a post by Vastman who believed he looked good on Friday and he thought still had two years left in him. This was just a strange thing to post a bit on the line of the conversion of Paul the apostle especially the reference to two years. It was as if he had been told to push or thought he should push the positivity of the signing.
I would say Gale would be a waste of money and we know how much the club hate spending money unnecessarily but I expect he will sign and for two years but I hope I am wrong.

Batch rumour months old true,miller to cas rumour not denied(wait & see) latest defo gale poss scott taylor.carter only speaking now as it looks like were safe.poor form really to fans & players

Taylor is still under contract and so is Shaul, but sadly Gale isn’t. The problem with the latter is that his best years are several seasons ago, at best he would just be another shirt filler when fit or not suspended who will do nothing to improve the team. I would hope after Brough those in charge would realise that this sort of signing if indeed it is never works and are just false economies and will do nothing to make the supporters feel the club is taking the team seriously or sell season tickets.
I cannot see why even we would want to sign him but sadly they have proved me wrong before all too often.

Think signing Gale would be a big mistake personally...has been a good player but best years definitely behind him and just don't see him being the type of character that would fit in at Wakey...

We're looking likely to have three if not more quota spots free and for me I'd hunt high and low and put the majority of available budget into a quality 6 and 9 from overseas....as previously mentioned...a player like Brodie Croft can make such a difference....also look back to Salford making a grand final with Hastings and Lusick...two quality players in the pivots...

Huddersfield last season finished on the same points as us but went out and spent wisely under Watson to go from a struggling season to play off contenders....I know we haven't got their kind of money to throw around but again...two quality pivots signed there in Levi and Fages make such a difference...

Sorry you don’t think that Gaskell, who has spent the majority of his career as a stand off, has ever been a playmaker? Not sure about that one. He probably looks better now as centre as he get older but he certainly has been a string-puller for most of his career.
