Exactly.
We wanted to retain him on reduced terms.
He was offered improved terms at Cas. I don’t think he will have had too many other options so looking out for himself and his family in what was more than likely going to be his last opportunity to get a large contract in his rugby career then he had to make that choice.
I think as fans we sometimes forget that these lads do this as a job and have to take the emotion out of it. If they were set for life after hanging up the boots it would be a different story, but they are not.
Seen a few comments about Milky saying he did well out if the club, but it works both ways and the club didn’t do too badly out of him.
Same principle applies to Langi, his situation changed last year which resulted in his decision to turn his back on the deal. The deal has been done this year for a quality player who brings plenty to the table and hopefully early on can change the minds of those holding a grudge with his performances.
