Spot on. I liked Mash and wanted him to do well, but he was under funded and lacked experience, and it showed on the pitch. It's no coincidence that we got better in the last third, because so did Mash and the players he could afford. By that time Smith was a bit of a lost cause, mainly because he's a support player who had nobody to support. Not sure he is SL standard to be honest, but he's more chance of showing it at Hull than he was with us last year.
It's also worth noting that Smith was far more experienced than this lad, he wasn't that big a gamble, where is this boy definitely is. They are not the same kind of signing imho.
