Why is it a risk giving a young player a run out in 3 relatively pointless games at the end of the season. Imo it's an ideal situation to give a lad SL experience, surely that's what it's all about, isn't it?

Agreed.
It's not risking them, more a case of giving them valuable experience.
Although there was no fun in finishing the season with 0 & 7, hopefully the benefit of the young lads playing will pay dividends next season.
It gives the coach chance to have a proper look at them and gives the lads chance to see just where they are at senior level.

On top of that, as they didn't look out of place, they could be used during the course of the 2017 season, though not necessarily at the same time.

In doing this, it would give players like Sio, Ashurst, and other senior players the chance to have a week off once in a while when they are starting to look jaded.

The same in the halves too now, with Miller, Wiliams, Wood and Finn. Didnt Finn and Miller play against Sheffield and Toulouse in the cup. If we get similar cup draws next year, then do we necessarily need to play both our first choice halves.

Doing this may abode better for the whole season, including the super/middle 8s

We certainly struggled when it seemed that most of the squad were knackered at the same time.
Having scraped past Catalan at magic weekend (with Miller's magnificent drop goal :D ), we then went to Salford and got well beaten and after that we were hanging on, scraping wins against a mickey poor Huddersfield and an equally poor Catalan side.
Apart from getting to the cup semi, our season was awful after magic weekend so, lets hope that we can keep fit and healthy and compete for a full season.

I honestly don't think that was a fitness issue.

I think it was more in the mind. What you have to think of is how utterly dreadful we were in 2014 and then realise how many players who were poor and in some case out of there depth raised their game once CC arrived to give us that run in 2015. Some players like Miller were almost unrecognisable from the previous season. To expect them to maintain that raised level of performance for a whole season was never really on.

However that's how teams are built and those same players now know whats required and will be even fitter an wiser this season or at least that's the plan. Hopefully over the last two seasons individuals and the team have improved and with the addition of players like Williams we will flip over from also rans and a bit fortunate to competitive which is basically what Cas have done. However as a word of warning just like Cas that doesn't mean we will be up there with the likes of Wigan, Hull, Warrington, Leeds and Saints who have the real firepower and money to win silverware. For us that's a bit off yet and despite what Belly says it is for Cas and others in a similar boat.

We need a team that can compete on there day (especially at home) and keep us in that top eight or at the very worse 9th spot.

With the league becoming so tight and Hull KRs squad already looking good Vastman I wouldnt want to finish any lower than 8th.

Not entirely convinced also that Leeds will be challenging again for the top 4 next year though I do predict them to be top 8.

If we're still judging potential new signings - how good as Fergy been in the 4 Nations?

Hello again Wakeyites. You will have noticed that Catalan fans were correct about Wiliame .This morning they are saying that Simon has signed for 2 years.
