I know there are plenty that wouldn't be happy about it or wouldn't go - that's their prerogative, but I'm sure if it was a nice shiny stadium, with a winning team a lot would go. Put it this way, 15,000 signed the petition. Why don't the majority of those turn out to support their side?

Because people will sign anything just to get away from the person shoving it under there noses, especially if they are not bothered either way. Unless it is an issue that people have a a strong viewpoint on people will just sign to get away from being bothered. Then factor in all the people who took petitions to friends and relatives, and the fact no of us know what was actually said to the people signing Im sure there will of been all sorts of rhetoric. All this is why the petition holds very little water, plus people were not given a balanced view of the negatives of any scheme.
