Come on Vasty we havnt even started and yet already lost about 50 % of the terrace to be up graded. Plus about 1000 final capacity. Also lost the retail outles etc on north stand which will reduce match day income. Plus it will look daft having a stand covereing spare ground with no supporters. If they can pull off strokes like this ,they will get away with more and that is what worries me.

I'll 'come on PB' back at you.

Who on earth are 'they' and what exactly are 'they' gaining?

Do you think people are doing this on purpose or for some sort of gain, I'm confused?

It's hardly what I wanted to see myself and having looked at it now, it's worse than I thought, but with inflation and material costs through the roof so to speak I think it's blatantly obvious to me why this is happening. As dboy rightly states, the money is safe but it doesn't do is stretch. Since these plans were costed inflation has been at 10% probably more in truth, with material costs such as steal the main contributors.

The staggering truth is that Trinity have yet again been stunningly unlucky with their timing. With Covid delaying the project thus allowing it to start as the world economy collapsed. I'm a bit surprised to be telling you tbh as I'm certain you already know all this.

As over spends go we are still doing well, had this been a government initiative you'd be getting a portaloo at this point.

I know Mr Carter and the club in general have managed to alienate themselves from a lot of fans in recent years and in some respects I understand why but facts are facts and they are not to blame anymore than the Council or the contractors.

Think you need to be a bit more specific, I mean meetings go on all the time.

Are you suggesting it's a full meeting, staff, players and management?

If this was the cost for sorting the west stand at the same time I would be ok with that

As people have said something with that void can be done at a later date

Does look very strange though

Ultimately the main thing is the east stand is going to be amazing

It's not going to look great and any impact on capacity and improved facilities stunts some of the growth the club was hoping to achieve from this. Sadly though there's not much the club can do about it, it's all down to the building costs which are going through the roof. Sadly inflation is expected to still rise a sigificant amount further along with energy costs and fuel prices are expected to remin high for a good while. Talking to people within the building industry they are expecting costs to continue to rise so my major worry would be this isn't the last revision we'll see to the project. The money will only stretch so far and once it's gone, it's gone. After all his hard work it's John Miniards i feel for in this, just when it looked like a slam dunk these things keep popping up. He must be pulling his hair out.

The void looks ridiculous and disappointing however construction costs (materials, fuel and labour) are very volatile at the moment. This will have nothing to do with the watertight agreement but being able to contruct something that was valued a number of years back with today's prices plus inflation of >10%. This a real life problem all developers are having to battle and sadly the QS often wins as is the case here. I hate the term value engineering as whilst sometimes there is is a genuine saving more often then not its results in a worse product.

The saving grace is once installed its not set in stone, but finding the money to do a proper job will be difficult.

As others have said this would be perfect for the Western errace

In my opinion they need to sheet that off behind the last terrace step, a false back to the stand. It will look completely stupid otherwise

Here is a little thought which may be a concern. Initially, the revamped North Stand was to have a capacity of 3500, with a stadium capacity of around 7,500.
The North Stand will now have a much reduced capacity, therefore the stadium capacity will be nowhere near 7500. I’m not sure what the minimum capacity is for a Super League Stadium, but we may be pretty close to it.
New East Stand 2500, North Stand probably around 1500, West Terrace 1000?. Perhaps the club will retain the temporary seats to make it up to 5500. Shame really, I was in the ground when we played Wigan in a cup tie, 28,500, attendance that day.
