I have never seen so much garbage in one statement. I doubt the completion of a stadium for Castleford would be high on their agenda, I have not heard either state any interest in Castleford or RL. When will you learn that the problem with our stadium cannot be blamed on others, what have we done ourselves to facilitate a new development. We have no money, we even sold our only asset the ground.

I know it is the conservative mantra is to blame others so I suppose you are only following what you have been told to believe.

Bless, so very naive. And you've not heard them state any interest? Well you do realise Yvette Cooper is the MP for Cas don't you? Also she has just made a video with the Cas CEO asking for the government not to call the application in. Oh and she is married to Ed Balls. And they also both fairly regularly attend games at Wheldon Road. And yes we can blame others, you know like that developer who has been less than honest. Also we don't own our ground and i don't vote tory or believe a word they say. But other than all that good post.

So if its written garbage you are wanting well done, you just won the trophy.

@TRB. I ask as reading the trinity board you have a lot more insight than me. Recently I read an article in the MEN, related to a new housing development in Salford, which mentioned that current legislation restricts councils to asking for no more than 15% ( might have been 10%) of profits from a developer on a 103 agreement. I hadn't seen that before , was wondering if you knew if that was correct? If do does that have implications for your discussions or indeed those in Castleford ( as it would imply the developer is making at least £200m profit to fund a £20m stadium?

Is that why AJ Bell which was built as part of a wider development was not gifted to Salford Devils but remains owned 50/50 by Peel and Salford Council?

Edit: just found the original article, and it is must make 10% profit not as I said above. Link below.

I'm not from Wakefield or Castleford nor support either, more interested, but reading that article through again gives an insight into what people like TRB. MC etc and those from Cas have been wading through for months\ years and I salute them all

I honestly don't know the legislation relating, but we had a deal agreed and it has not been enacted correctly - a result of the actions of both the council and developer!

We are now in a completely different place, with the 106 acting merely as a point of reference.

So many mistakes have been made it has resulted in the whole thing being extremely muddy, but we maintain that we have a significant role to play in this process and we are working hard to maximise our position.

For reference I am both the spokesman for SWAG and sit on the Wakefield & District Community Trust - the intended recipient of the NM stadium, should it ever materialise!

Thanks for the support.

Yvette Cooper MP for Castleford, married to Ed Balls, plus Peter Box WMDC leader, all Cas fans' and all have a career in politics, on balance if they are asking for the application not to be called in I would suggest that has more to do with generating new jobs for the area than Cas's new ground, whether they attend their games or not doesn't really matter and is probably only window dressing or vote catching anyway, so long as Cas has its funding in place and don't seek financial help from the council then where is the problem, I would imagine if there was anything untoward with anything to do with the clubs planning application and finances Mr and Mrs balls would not risk political suicide and would distant themselves from it all.

Isn't Mr Box is a share holder at Cas ?
If so, in his position as council leader, he "could" have influence on aspects to do with their application.
Also, IIRC, he basically said that our situation had nothing to do with him and it was up to the club and Yorkcourt to deal with.

As council leader, you might expect that he could put his weight behind any project that was for the good of the community that he was voted into office to serve.
The same could apply to Balls and Cooper ?

Of course the angle used will be the jobs created but also the benefit to the wider community is also a much used line and a headline grabber so a new 'community' stadium for the area will always go down well. There has in reality been little opposition against the plan so any risks involved in public figures supporting it are minimal. You have to assume that there is nothing untoward with the application as it has already been passed at local level so it wouldn't lead to any political suicide, just a case of using their influence to support the local area and there constituents. Wakefields own MP, Mary Creagh, also signed the petition supporting the development and she is also a shadow cabinet member as is Jon Tickett who also supported the scheme i believe. So front bench influence in favour of the development within the corridors of power would be strong should labour be election to govern and we all know it's a case of who you know not what you know. Of course they will try and push it through, they would be remiss not to, they still are supposed to to do the best for the people they represent and keep the promises they make after election time. It will be looked at obviously but i would say that a labour government is more more likely to support the locally made decison of a labour run council than the tories are. The poster i was replying to stated that they had not heard them state any interest in Castleford or RL. He is wrong, they have on both counts and have done many times.

FWIW i don't think labour will get in anyway but even if the tories do it will probably go through eventually. It's just more likely that they will call it in, delay the whole process and make some lawyers plenty of money.

Just wondering what David Hinchcliffe is up to these days ? He likes is RL does Dave, a labour man through and through - perhaps he would like to join Yvette, Eddie and Peter at our next home game. I'm sure he reads these boards - I might be able to get him a freeby if he wants to PM me.

As far as I know from the Cas board he has minimal shares and not enough to make any difference, having said that I think he is too smart a cookie to get embroiled in anything untoward regarding the club, I like yourself are not privvy to what's gone on behind closed doors, maybe trb could tell us, but short of bailing us out financially what else could the council have done when Yorkcourt have clearly shown it's contempt for not only the council but the secretary of state as well

And there in lies the problem, he is putting his weight behind different projects, but the projects are spread far and wide, Wakefield is only part of the MDC, there's the 5 towns as well all wanting a piece of him and the council.

Until you get a Wakefield council what serves WAKEFIELD with Wakefield councillors' whose priority is just Wakefield can't see anything changing.

I doubt that - seeing as he is on the Stadium Trust with us!
