I think he simply announced his decision to the players rather than resigned on the strength of that meeting.
................saying that, if it was because of what was said in that meeting we are in deeper poo than ever.

He has said before that he stayed after being convinced by Carter based on what was going to be done to help him. If (and I don't know) he didn't get the backing he wanted he may as well go back to his original decision to go back home.

I really feel it's a missed opportunity by the club.

We will see what the future brings.

Whilst i agree he probably wouldn't sell it for a quid, the rest of your statement imo is absolute garbage. Milking it for all its worth????!! Whats that exactly???
Does he have to be a fan?? I don't claim he is a god, but at the same time, there wasn't a queue of people lining up either before he took over or since, so on those grounds i think it is fair to say, we wouldnt still be in Super League without both MC and CB.

Should they walk away tomorrow, yes someone else may step in, but i assure you they would be walking into a lot better situation than the current board picked it up in 2 years ago.

Anyhow, my preferred options for the new coach in order are:

1. John Kear
2. Glen Morrison
3. Karl Harrison

Bad news. Stability is what's lacking at this club and now it seems we are reverting back to lurching from one crisis to another. Dickins being in charge ain't going help change the club's fortunes.

Smith was the best coach we could hope to have, anyone else will be a step down. Morrison looks like he has the potential to make a decent coach so I'd look at him, although Dewsbury played hard ball last time.

I've no doubt Carter is only interested on getting his money back which is fair enough for someone who isn't a fan. He runs a tight ship and the club is in a much healthier state financially so there are benefits to this.

Agree with most of that Khlav, but with regards to the benefits from being financially better off, you have to ask for how much longer ??
The squad we have, although larger than last season has so far failed to improve on last season's performances/results, and we don't look like doing so any time soon, there has been next to no improvement off the pitch with regards to the ground/facilities/Newmarket, and if MC is either unwilling or unable to put further finances into the club, or find someone who can, then it is only a matter of time before we do get relegated and go bust.
I hate to be so pessimistic, but where are the positives in all this ??
