Worried is too strong a word for it but could become appropriate at a later date.
My concern for next year revolves around the attacking shape and structure we’ll employ. With the signing of Walker & Green (both good signings) and the loss of Hampshire we seem to be setting up for the same again which I think could be a mistake.
Teams and individuals have grown accustomed to defending double and triple shift plays. If we continue with that as our number one attacking ploy I think we’ll look increasingly impotent in attack.
Progressive Coaches have already started moving their teams away from that shape as their main attacking structure. It won’t completely disappear as teams will still play on the defenders instincts to over read that play.
Sts, Salford, London, Leeds & Warrington are early movers away from relying on shift plays and apart from being relatively successful for each it’s also more attractive and less prescribed.
My other concern as always is our inability to offer a cohesive defensive structure.
