This should be our team motto “They tried hard but lacked the quality and composure to capitalise”. I agree we had players missing but they did and St Helens play in the Challenge Cup final next week. I guess that could be a bit of a distraction.

100% commitment and effort from the boys tonight ,yes a bit more savvy in parts of our attack and defence and I feel the scoreline would have been much closer ,but got stuck in and had a dig and that’s all you can ask of them . Bachelor is turning into a right tackling machine and a special mention for Kay who played his heart out in an unfamiliar position but let no one down and really took it to saints . 1-17 I take my hat off to you for that effort tonight . That was no patched up saints side that turned up tonight and we gave them a good run for their money, thoroughly enjoyed that game .

As a neutral statement, it was ever thus, no? It's the small margins that means that teams like us can play well and not quite bring home the bacon.
What was Kaye's tackling like at hooker? Raving about him on the radio but I can't imagine he's up to the defensive responsibilities over a full 80?

Why not, he’s big enough and strong enough, he’s also battle hardened. He looked more like a genuine hooker than anyone we’ve had since Aiton imho.

That said I don’t see why he needs to do the full 80.

Can’t really agree with you completely .

Commitment was brilliant but that second half again contained some truly clueless RL at times. The amount of effort has been top notch all season but we are yet to play what I call good rugby. We really need to find the key, a player who can turn effort into points.

Mason is not the answer I’m afraid, he’s ok but IMO he hasn’t got the leadership or the skills.

That said it was a decent game and we did some good things but there is still something missing.

Maybe Kay to 9 is the answer but one game is not enough to be certain.

Lowlights for me were:
Kershaw not taking that long pass with the line open and then not long after Lino missing Matautia in the defensive line. Could have gone to 20-16 but went to 14-26 instead.
Then when we were chasing the game Arundal got the ball on the last tackle about 10 metre out with some diagonal daylight between him and the line. Les Tonks would have probably coasted through but Arundal straightened up and plodded into the Saints line.
Hampshire and Tanganoa cocking up that late play of the ball.

No Wood x 2, no TJ, no Bill, no Jordy, players not returning due to head knocks. Flow, just go back to the Cas Forum and keep winding them up. That was a full strength Saints team who we pushed all the way. Should we have won? Yes, we was the better team. Were they 'trying' absolutely, players that don't try, get injured!

My point os some fans blame injuries yes we had players out bit out of our strongest team we didnt have that many out tommy wood billy and who else to be honest...yes players are out but only squad players...oooosorry max too

If money was no object vasty then our team wouldn’t look the way it does ,we’ve got what we’ve got and I thought they played well .I could go and nitpick most of the players from last night for brain fart and wrong choices ,but what I saw was a team having a go against a far superior team on paper and giving them a good game .To pick Lino out is unfair ,why not Hampshire or arundel or kelepi, who all had brain farts/mistakes at some points in the game .Lino and the rest were playing against a great team who were out of the traps like racing snakes all the game cutting down our options all over the field ,but we still managed to compete ,score tries and take the game to them ,and that will do for me .

Strange one with Aydin last night, he didn't come on until the last 10 minutes or so. We had to check that he'd been named on the bench, when he hadn't appeared, especially as we lost Tash after 20 minutes (and his injury looked ominous when the blue light ambulance turned up -I assume that it was as a precaution for him).

Though Lino went ok my self, said before we are a bottom 6 squad not top 6 We just had 17 players we could put out last night .We have got a different mind set to last season in defence, We are still way of in attack but think this is down to quality .We are missing T J and Bill a lot Arundel last night showed you need more than passing to your game when you play the top teams. Not having a go at him just a thought.. Though all 17 gave 100% and while they do that I will give 100% support
