Team selection was wrong. Again. Also, Francis Cummins, hardly a good record from where he has been, but probably cheap.
What happened with DF and RB was criminal but the capitulation was incredible.34 points in 40 minutes.

are you saying it was intential from the ref giving fafita the yellow card to bring the game closer as we have seen that many times before

I personally thought it was silly from Fifita but I have never seen a sin bin directly for holding down like that.

I would have naturally expected it to be upgraded to a penalty but a sin bin even at the time I thought was excessive for what essentially was a bit of messing about.

Hicks really hammered us in the third quarter. A number of six agains on the 4/5th tackles absolutely killed us. Some were justified but some were strangely harsh. The last tackle where Pitts literally put his hand on the players shoulder when playing ball and he wiped the count down was ridiculous and even Pitts was mystified. You literally see that happen 100s of times throughout a game with no action. Someone honestly must have stolen Hick’s half time snack from the refs room.

Before the referee Angel brigade come riding in on their chariot of righteousnous peddling this to their agenda by saying the predictable “your blaming the ref for the loss” etc.

No I am not. We lost an I fully accept that it was our performance and discipline that caused it. I am however amazed constantly by the decisions.

Another one was how when Hicks gave a knock on when Miller stripped it (he infuriates me with high risk plays like this) but it bobbled and was projected forwards off the Toulouse players arm yet not given as a knock on and given as a try. How?

Also, on the last tackle when Bretherton fell to the floor losing his footing and Walker was penalised for a high shot with replays showing none - very slight contact. That was absolutely rediculous and immediately led to the Russel try. Effectively that’s two try’s in my opinion shouldn’t have happened but for incorrect calls.

I'm certainly not a ref basher and I definitely don't think he was cheating......but he focused on us in that 3rd quarter and even 60:40 decisions went against us. It was frustrating me in the Wigan Sts game seeing so many messing at PTB and just carrying on.

Whether you blame the ref or the players, playing without the ball for so long with 12 men just took our energy. It was impossible to defend.
Everyone knows a repeat set can usually lead to a try. I'm sure someone will count them but we must have had to defend 40 + sets.

It was an impossible situation from them receiving the ball at the start of the 2nd half ! They were fully prepared to blitz us
for the 10 mins we were a man down and did it to perfection . With our stronger tacklers off the field ( Arona Whitbread Hood ) our constant defending just led to more and more errors ! Should Poching have changed his subs rotation to shore us up for this blitz .. yes imo . But the more you see Fifitas incident the more ridiculous it was of him to do it ! Christ knows what was going through his head

What would you have changed apart from bringing Butler on?

Ok.

Down to 12 men.

So why not start the second half with Hood and Whitbread. Both were rested and both are top defenders. We needed damage limitation!!

He then brings both back on when the game is totally lost.

Unless there were other issues that in my opinion were terrible tactics. And it’s not the first time.

I’m no coach but sadly neither is Willy or not yet.

It wasn’t the Fifita sending off that was a killer or it shouldn’t have been it was the Butler one. Had we restricted them to two tries in that first ten minutes as you’d expect we’d probably have wine even if Butler walked.

Also in the first half Milker wanted to run the ball. He knew Toulouse were shot but we took two. Had we bagged another six I doubt Dave would have imploded.

Yes it’s all hindsight but trying to anticipate the outcome is the coaches primary job.

It’s very simple, 12 months on WP in no further on than CC, in fact we’ve gone backwards.

I said it when he got the job and I stick by it: never appoint the assistant who got the benefit of a post-sacking bounce. We did it in 2005 with Tony Smith and he almost took us down the year after. We did it with Webster, who had a post-sacking bounce. I cannot think of a single Super League example of a former assistant who stepped in after the previous head-coach was sacked and who went on to do well. It's because you have the same-old same-old. I just hoped I was wrong. Some people are meant to be assistants. Willie is one, as he always has been.

I don't think he's helped by his squad, who are too old and jaded, probably as sick of it all as we are, but I think that is partly to do with the increased success of the NRL. All the best English players head there and now no decent Aussies come over, so the top clubs get the best of the rest and we get glorified Championship players. There are players at some of the top clubs who would never have got in them fifteen years ago, and maybe would have ended up with us.

But the promoted assistant was a disaster waiting to happen, and now the disaster is happening. We are one Toulouse win away from relegation.

Perhaps you need a good head of rugby like what we have, who has helped to get superb overseas players like MacDonald, Ipape, Asiata, Amone and Ferguson!!

We do have one who is at Leigh. We are paying him his 2022 wages….mind boggling isn’t it how we are paying Chester who is at Leigh.

In honesty though Chesters recruitment has been questionable at best for trinity. He signed the likes of Gaskell/Lineham on long deals.

It was correct to get rid of Chester and in fact we waited too long.

Biggest error of all, not playing batch at centre. With Bowden and Bowes obviously fit we could have covered for batch moving from the pack.
