Re: Carter, Minnards, Applegarth, Ford : Tue May 02, 2023 1:00 pm
Signing of Gale noted but I think an experienced SL coach is also needed to steer the ship off the field and try to get Trinity re-building for the future even if it’s too late for this season.

10 losses on the bounce and Applegarth is still in the chair along with Ford. He lost a lot of credibility with me when he backed Lineham and didn’t give Murphy the 5 shirt.

https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/ru ... ore-target

His signings Atoni and Proctor have been dreadful as was the decision to let Hall go and bring in Dagger who’s no better at full back than Kay.

Going without a proven 6 was crazy and he should have been bringing in Corey Norman or similar instead of going for an overweight old second row Proctor to play at prop. His judgment of Gaskell/Smith/Langi at 6 also backs the feeling of SL coaching ineptitude. After 10 games into the season Proctor still does not appear match fit.

I am sorry but I think he got the nod as he fit the ‘cheap as chips’ price bracket and probably doesn’t demand too much from club management, he isn’t what Trinity need.

Who to replace him then?

John Kear would be my answer on a long term contract with someone like Gale later as an assistant when he retires from playing possibly.

Someone like Kear, with Applegarth as assistant would be great but, it's very, very unlikely to happen.
Kear is doing a decent job at Widnes.
They're in a play off spot, which is something that Kear would no doubt love to see through.

The bottom line is about who may be available and who would actually want to take us on.

Already, the very best we can hope for is an 11th spot finish and we have nobody of real value to sell to allow us some spend elsewhere.
After Murphy, Hall was our best young player and we literally gave him away :DEPRESSED:

It is now open season on all out of contract players of which we currently have many even before we are relegated and a few more can be added. The final chapter of the legacy begins. It will be interesting just to see how many of our current squad are of interest to other clubs and at what level.

Same as every other club.
Personally, even if we survive, there are a lot of players I wouldn't renew. Time to refresh whichever division it is.

Do not care where the players go as long as 95% of them are not here.next season
Make that 97% that can include both coaches

Kear alongside Liam Finn would also be another option if either could be tempted back to BellevVue…

I'd wholeheartedly agree on that, and some next year too, but at the same, make sure, the replacents are improvements on who we let go.

I have to say that this irked me in the Mighty Trin magazine. He has always had snipes like that and it is irritating. None of this is our fault. I get some of the overboard comments must be frustrating and annoying, but the customer is always right (even when they're wrong). There is something of the Ryanair about some of the comments, except people will still use Ryanair as it fits in with their plans. Pretty soon, an afternoon at Belle Vue won't fit in with their plans anymore, so MC doesn't have the luxury of attacking those who pay the money.
