As far as you know which is virtually nothing I'm afraid, of course he wanted it albeit on slightly different terms which was refused point blank with an ultimatum delivered, Carter has before going on holiday put the contract back on the table if he wants to sign it, he was dropped for this weeks game as he was last week but because MCB is unavailable he's now playing this week apparently, something else you didn't know either fwiw he was told that if he wanted to he could go to shudds this morning for the rest of the season with Roberts coming this way, which is a bit silly really as there was no mention of a contract there as well, one other thing I'll say is that Hampshire has been treated very shabbily and been bullied by the club so it's no surprise about the rumours regarding discontent in the camp if others are getting the same treatment.
Sounds like the club is the big bad wolf here, ask yourself this then, he is the only player in the last 5 years that seems to have had a problem with deals offered by the club and he has had the same issue in the public domain twice in 2 years now.
Why? Is he the only one that has been offered a so called unfair deal out of a squad of 30? What about the other 40 players that have come and gone in the last 5 years? Or maybe just maybe, the issue comes down to him? And his obsession with "Chasing that big deal"? He had a figure in mind, the club did not think he was worth that figure, the club would not negotiate past a certain point, the club needed to plan for next season in terms of the players they have for the 2020 season in line with budget?
I had the same thoughts last year, however if the rumors are to be believed then he has had offers from a couple of other SL clubs and he is willing to accept lower than these offers to stay at Wakey.
But i agree it isn't good that so much is in the public domain. That said, Chessie or Carter has said in the press that talks have been ongoing with all our players that are OOC which has apparently not been the case so that is out of order. Final thing, trying to ship him out to Huddersfield for the rest of this year seems spiteful and would leave us short in the backs.

Do you know if he's been offered an unfair deal because I never said that he had, he was offered a deal with no room for negotiation and a timescale put on it, if you think that's fair then that's the end of the matter, you do know of course that the club has signed Walker from London which gives the club a bit of an advantage over negotiations, but maybe if your one of Carters pals what also post on here you'll know this already and maybe there in lies a clue why you think the club has treat Hampshire fairly.
We are moving the discussion from Wigan to Hampshire's contract. No one to blame but it needs to be on a seperate thread. Keep commenting but I will remove everything shortly.
For my bit, I like Hampshire but there is only so much to go round. I don't know any details but I wonder where on the list of contracts those asking to retain him would put him. What would you say if he wanted more than say TJ, Fifita, Tupou, Lyne, Ashurst, Miller, Arona, Batch? Where does he fit in that list. I'd suggest he sees his position higher than the club does.
Pop Tart he is worth more than all of those players, why because he is a creative player, a natural, a gifted runner with pace to burn, a reader of the game, a magnificent support player, a player who creates trys out of nothing, a goal kicker, a magnificent defender, a player with soft hands who has the full range of passes. It is not so difficult to find honest hard working players do run the pay in, to tackle , to do the donkey work, there are plenty of them some better than others at basically the same job. But what we have in Hampshire is that very difficult to find creative half back, the type of player that clubs are paying big money for. These players are the top earners, Austin, Lui, Williams, Mcquire, Gale, etc etc . Then you have your brilliant hookers McShane , Roby etc would command a wage. Your honest hard runner with limited skill set are replaceable , Hampshie and the like are not. Clubs spend big money bringing SL untried Aussies over to fill that role as their is such a shortage of gifted home grown half backs and many fail. By the way Miller is not fit to lace Hampshires boots.

it’s an opinion but not one shared by super league managers it would appear ...

If Hampshire was being dropped after the Catalans game no wonder we are in a pickle, created our only two tries and should have been 3 if Bill had caught his pass early on. Absolute madness.
Also think he is a much better goal kicker than Brough is these days.
On the Hudds link, again madness. We shouldn’t be looking to strengthen a relegation rival whilst taking on one of their players who has been out of form for ages
