Just caught up on Gary Spencer podcast.
Some great stories I certainly didn't know but more than anything I found him quite humble.
Those days were good times for Wakefield in the late 80s early 90s and Spencer was a class player but I'm not sure he knew how good he really was or at least as I said is just humble about it.
Shame he got some grief from some idiots when he went to Leeds. Hardly his fault but we had some good times when he came back and his move allowed us to build a team around Conway and Mason at that time.
Happy days and some good memories on this podcast

Excellent listen from the heritage boys, and really enjoyed the fans forum as well .Really is great to have the old grey matter jogged and listen to our stars of yesteryear
A must for fans who like to reminisce of times gone by at the club.

I didn't realise that our paths had so closely mapped.... I played a few years with Castle ARLFC with Paul Geary then a few years at Walnut Warriors with Dave Poynton... and Brian Firth was the coach for the last year or so.

And a couple of guys from Sharlston under 17 s were at the 'Nut as well....

I also had the problem of being a league player at Kettlethorpe High School I was in the final year before the team captain realised I could play a bit and he persuaded me to play for the school union team

I must say these guys are doing a great job on this podcast

Listening to willies story was great
The issues the SL war caused his early career and a bit of insite of the inner workings of the players during the Pearman saga were v interesting

Getting JD on was great too

I'm getting to be a big fan of this now.
The Andy Kelly one is really interesting, possibly more for me as I was watching as a teenager when he came through.
Some great stories.

Just listened to the second half of the Andy Kelly interview where he talks about his coaching career.

Having followed home and away in the promotion season it was interesting to hear his view on that.

I’m not one for endlessly criticising those who run Trinity now and have run Trinity in the past. It’s a difficult and demanding job just like coaching and playing, mistakes are made and of course you simply can’t please everyone.

However there is no doubt in my mind that the sacking of AK was one of the blackest moments in the clubs recent history.

Although as far as I’m aware Pearman was the man in charge it doesn’t show either Harbin or the Richardson family in a good light.

I suppose Harbin can say he was just doing his job but Ted and his daughter owed Kelly far more loyalty than they appeared to offer.

This was before my involvement under the Ted regime so maybe they did put up a fight on Andy’s behalf but from the way he talks it doesn’t sound like it.

A shameful episode.
