Not heard it it, but would welcome a 14 team super league.

Seem to recall this being something that I suggested on here a long time ago, along with a return to Lions tours and a competition for the emerging nations

As long as teams qualify on league positions and nothing else.

Not heard anything but if its a return to licencing it's the sensible way to grow the game. Not the fudge we had before but a league that can be added to rather than deciding behind closed doors who get booted out every three years.

Wasn't Super League XV in 2010 a 14 team competition. Salford and Crusaders joined what was then the current 12 clubs in a "Licensed" Super League competition and it carried on for a few years. it was then abolished and only 12 teams were in again. i seem to remember some of the leading players and coaches of the so called top clubs in the game at the time wanting only 10 teams in Super League as there wasn't enough quality players around to warrant 12 teams in the competition.What happened to that suggestion!!

14 clubs would be excellent.
However, IF the rumours are true, The RFL still need to give some serious though as to where they want the game to be in 10 years time.
Even if they add KR (which is a no brainer) and maybe Fev or Toulouse, in a couple of seasons, Toronto will be knocking hard on the SL door and one day, Bradford may come good again.
Whatever system they come up with needs to be future proof or, we will be having the same debate in 5 years time.
IMO, we should includes KR, Toronto and Toulouse and we should be demanding more cash from Sky to facilitate this.
Also, increasing numbers in SL may allow some of the "proper" clubs from league 1 to move up into the Championship and for the game as a whole, this is just as important.

But that would just be a u turn .
They reduced the numbers to improve quality at the top, improve quality in the next level down to strengthen the league and play less games.
For me it's done that.
The top 8 needs work but the middle 8 is an excellent comp and gives the top teams in the lower league something to play for and makes the game exciting for the normally dead rubber bottom 4 of super league.

How about bottom club in Super League and the top club in the Championship played the million pound game?
