Arona out for 4-5 weeks. On the plus side he will be staying next season

Funny thing is if we had to rest Walker, Fifita, England, Arona and even Huby we could still put out a pack - Allgood (maybe) Anthony Walker, Hirst, Anakin, Ashurst, Batchelor, Crowther and Sio.

I cant see it beating Salford, but with the right attitude and tactics it could do a job, I've seen us win with far less..

Miller a loss but Finn, Williams and Wood plus Grix still offers some creativity. Or give Jowitt a run in the halves, who knows.

I know modern day Coaches don't like to games as experiments especially Kear not sure about Chester but just for once we have the luxury. At the end of the day as a fan I'd rather beat Salford in the Cup.

See where your coming from but can't say I agree with treating the game as an experiment. We're on a bit of a roll, let's get our strongest 17 out and try to keep it going!

Usually I'd agree.

But look at it this way, we have a lot of good players who really do need a run out.

Crowther for one and it wouldn't hurt Batchelor. Jowitt definitely, Hirst definitely needs as much game time as possible and Anakin and Walker for certain - let's be honest none of those are total rookies.

TBH I was taking the most extreme view but other than Jowitt at H/B I suppose experimental was the wrong word. Also I did actually mean if those first choice players were actually injured rather than carrying a knock on the day. So far the only confirmed injury is Arona - so I take that as no news is good news.

Might just rest Fifita though - he's done some huge minutes and deserves a break as some of the others have received - tbf that is the point of a big squad.

Big loss is arona, does shed loads of graft and is one of the reasons our defence looks good this season... Let's hope it's sooner rather than later...
We need to have the ... Next man up attitude for the Salford game on Sunday ( if we have injuries) then see where we're at..
The Salford game in the cup is a tough ask,but it has been a long long time since we have had a team that can put the frightners on the opposition..Right attitude and it's a game that can be won..

Totally agree, arona is a massive undersung hero in defence, does all the dirty work for the team. Hopefully mikey sio will step up and fill that void.

Will be a huge miss will Arona...a top class player...if I was coach he'd be the first name down on my team sheet every week! One thing that seems to go a bit unnoticed with him is how good a ball handler he is...we all know the donkey work he does but think he's got a touch of class with ball in hand too...

I'd be inclined to give Craig Huby a crack at 13...he's playing really well, can play long minutes and also has that touch of class with ball in hand...failing that Sio is always an option...and for workrate Batchelor could easily fill the void...
