Statement from Trust - 18th July 2017 : Tue Jul 18, 2017 5:21 pm  

Representatives from The Wakefield & District Community Trust (the Trust) and Wakefield Trinity (the Club) met with Cllr Peter Box this morning.

The meeting was positive and constructive and we are very pleased that Peter has acknowledged that Yorkcourt have let down the Council and the people of Wakefield and that he has come to the conclusion that Yorkcourt have no intention of delivering the Community Stadium that they promised the Public Inquiry over 5 years ago. Furthermore we are pleased that Peter has called on Yorkcourt to walk away from Wakefield and the Newmarket scheme.

Peter acknowledged in the meeting that the Wakefield & District Community Trust is named in the Unilateral Undertaking and was named in the Public Inquiry as the Trust established to facilitate the delivery of the Community Stadium and confirmed that the Council would work with this Trust. This is welcome news and we cannot see any purpose that would be served by Sir Rodney Walker establishing a rival Trust and urge him to cease from so doing. The offer from the Trust to Sir Rodney to re-join the Board of this Trust remains open.

The meeting explored options of working with other parties to deliver the stadium in the required timeframe which was welcomed by the Trust and the Club and it was suggested that a further meeting takes place within the next week which we look forward to.

The present trust are honest honourable people who want the best for this club and the City.
I am sure non of them will profit from this and that's why I don't expect Walker to return and join them, HOPEFULLY !!!!

Why would the official Trust welcome Rodney back into the fold when he has exposed himself as an untrustworthy opportunist with nothing in common with existing trust members? Also' will Peter Box not ask, but tell Yorkcourt to "Go forth and multiply", and refuse to allow them any further development. Generally, an encouraging announcement.

the Rejoining of Walker to the trust can only lead to more problems in my opinion so I hope he turns it down but I can understand the offer of his return,
whether he has the connections to push on away from using Yorkcourt will be another issue but we have to have from the beginning an amicable agreement

well he said he could deliver, well he's going to look a right dick if he can't agree to work with the trust that the council wants to work with

Wonder if this turn of events is partly due to the Daily Star still on the case and also fans emailing councillors again.

I'm fed up with encouraging announcements we've had a boat load over the months. I'd like the council to say next week that this is what is going to happen and get the stadium built. I know SC will have his Bull sheet meter switched on at the next meeting and also tell Rodders thank you but no thank you.

Positive in that the only way forward now, is the original trust working with WMDC.
It's better that the monkey that is Yorkcourt is off the back. Let them go and screw somebody else.

Well they need to make decisions pretty quick, don't we have until the end of July to give a plan of action to the RFL?

He said that he could deliver at the SoS enquiry seven years ago. Where is it? He's already looked a right dick don't you think?
