Managed to get to the Widnes match, got to admit I was looking for an excuse not to go as I feared a similar experience to the Salford away match. Anyway I was wrong and glad I went. Several thoughts :
- I went to match direct from Manchester so used the new bridge- what a fantastic sight that is, well worth the £2 toll
- The Widnes stadium is great
- Every season Widnes have a horrendous injury problem, same again this year, it has to be the pitch
- Widnes gave 100 % , they were depleted but boy did they try their best
- A win was vital for us, we achieved that goal by been excellent in defence
- Special credit to Batch who was magnificent. Batch, Horo and Jowitt were truely great in that 20 min period in second half when Widnes were on our line.
- Team spirit was good.
- Game managment was a bad as ever
- last tackle kick options were poor until Miller decided to calm things down and kick for touch.
- England is our only forward running hard and straight and he got injured
- Outside backs dis a great job bringing the ball out of defence
- Truly awesome to have Chris ' The Force ' Anakin back. We win when he plays.

We got the two points and that was all that matters. Three more wins required to get to 20 points that will hopefully see us just in the top 8. Looking at the fixtures it is a tough ask obviously Catalans and Widnes at home will be must wins, Leeds could be an opportunity if they don't get players back.

Yes good to have Annakin back, but come on he wasn’t on the field long enough to affect the game.

Annakin's presence in the squad was sufficient no doubt?

Ist game I would have liked to have seen a rerun of since I gave up trying to take a 2nd years sub out on Trinity TV.

It was a bit scrappy and had its odd reffing moments.
I thought CC was a bit tight on Pauli Pauli saying he wasn't where we need him to be but he stood out to me, didn't miss much, made some hard yards and popped out a few peachy passes in running contact, maybe he's referring to fitness I dunno.
Johnstone made a mistake but apart from that he got us out of some tight corners, took the ball in and defended very well.
Jowitt like Rocky was ok, so was Miller, its gonna take a little time for those 3 to mesh, Millers role has changed so he isn't going to look like 2017, he seems to be guiding the ship but sharing with Rocky so he doesn't have the free pass he used to.
Everybody else gave 100%, too many mistakes in the 2nd half but defense was a notch higher and with Widnes limited attack options that was enough to cover cock-ups.
If we can finish the game next week with 13 on the pitch rather than in Pinderfields, we're in with a shout..

As an aside, can anybody remember a game England has finished not covered in blood and bandages.
I know its tough in the middle there but heck, he seems to get cut up every game.
Mebbe he's just "that" height for it, I dunno
