I have seen a number of posts when players contracts come under scrutiny. I for one have no idea what a player earns a season or were wakey stand in the contract table but do we undervalue our players or are the players happy with whats on offer. I would have thought that with the number of players that have signed recently and quite lengthy contracts our offers must measure up.
Are our players prepared to take a little less to play for a club that they are happy at or are no other offers on the table. I have no doubt that the culture at the club must play a big part in player retention but when it comes to signing new players they must fit in and buy in to the club.
So for anybody in the know just what can a player at our club hope to earn and how does thst compere to other clubs. Could any of our players move on and earn more

MC said on RugbyAM that we're £450k (I think) below the cap. So I'm sure somebody can work an average out from that.

Other than that it would just be speculation, Rocky said in an interview that he has took a paycut greater than 50% compared to when he was at Leigh. Also heard a rumour that we offered Jordy Thompson around £40k before he joined Leigh where he signed for £100k plus.

End of the day we'll never know. I trust that MC will only offer contracts that work for the club.

IF we are 450k under the cap and dont have any marque players, MC and Chester are working miracles and when you look at our attendances compared to the big 4 (plus Cas & Catalan) it would tend to back up the figure that you quote.

I know it's just dreaming but, just imagine what could happen to our attendances if we could make it to Wembley (or Old Trafford).
You would certainly see Trinity close to the current capacity on a regular basis, which, in terms of potential cap spend, would take us a lot closer to the big boys.

We can but dream.

Well if that's true or nearly true, its crazy. Look where we are and look were Leigh are. Who is the smart club and who is the club run by idiots

Idiots should be singular in the case of Leigh.

As for the contracts we offer both current players and to entice new players I am happy with leaving that in the hands of MC and his team. I look at it this way, whatever they are doing currently is obviously working, we have a calibre of players at the club that we would struggle to attract a few years ago and even better they seem to want to stick around for as long as possible.

Even in the fallout from their current situation Beaumont was pointing the finger at the players who refused to walk away from their contracts with nothing. A new ground won't solve all our problems we still need good people steering the ship.

I'd rather have our chairman and our ground than their (ex) chairman and their ground...........much as I'd love to watch Wakefield at a ground like that.

You say that Leigh are idiots. However, Fev are also offloading players, due to finishing outside the top 4 and they have always run a pretty tight ship.
The current funding structure in The Championship is an accident waiting to happen and a couple of poor results late in the season mean that you are either battling for promotion to SL or literally, fighting for financial survival.
There are of course ramifications if you finish in the bottom 4 in SL but, even then it's not a 4X drop in central funding.
