You make out like Jowitt's been the first choice FB during his time at the club, but the fact is he got a chance to start at FB in 2016 and was Rookie of the year. Since then he's been basically Grix's back up and mainly played when Grix has been injured or rested. Hardly the best scenario for a young player to develop fully at 21 is it. The Club obviously sees a future in him hence his contract and he's playing in one of the positions in RL that's one of the hardest to master, so I'll take their opinion over others. :?

All I hope is our wingers stay out wide and don’t get sucked in like at cas or it could be a long night ,oh and tackle around the legs to put the man down.
Sounds simple but boy we make hard work of it at times .
Whatever happens we’ve had a great season and confounded the critics once more ,now let’s throw the kitchen sink at the wires and send us on our way with a smile on our face.

I know what you mean KK, but the wingers do that because the centres have been sucked into the middle, as have the second row forwards......the winger is left exposed, what's he supposed to do?
This has been a problem for ages, I remember Peter Fox getting some stick on here for the same reason.

Take whatever opinion you like, the fact is you’re making excuses for him. He’s played 40 first grade games for us which is more than a full seasons worth and hasn’t done anything to make me think he should ever have that number 1 shirt.

Many on here say he’s comfortable under a high ball - I should bloody hope so as a fullback but then again Hull FC earlier in the season springs to mind massively where he was solely at fault for 2 tries when letting the ball bounce.

He also didn’t get the official rookie of the year award did he so let’s not sugar coat that.

It's not even a discussion.
He was rookie of the year.
He has played for us at fullback regularly in Super League

You may want someone better but the evidence shows he is more than capable of playing Super League.

Hes is wrong but I get what he is trying to say, the Rookie of the Year is decided by a bunch of journalists at the league express so is not as big a accolade as SL Young player of the year. Not taking anything away from him I thought he was probably in contention to be SL young player of the year in 16 had Johnstone not burst onto the scene the way he did.

Of course it’s a discussion, you’re all referring to an award given out by the bloody paper!

You know through this whole thing, not one person has actually said anything other than that “he’s one of our own” crap to make me think “they’re right”.

I expect a fullback to be able to catch a ball and as I’ve said he’s clearly made more than a few errors underneath.

He’s thrown one or two good passes but I have seen more than a few of you admit Grix is miles better at it.

He has a slim to non running game, I don’t think I’ve seen him carry the ball further than 6/7 meters at a time.

You all think I’m trolling but this is my genuine opinion, what does Max Jowitt bring to our team?

Let me just say this as well, I hope he proves me wrong against Warrington presuming he starts and the fixture after that and the next and so on but I can’t see it happening.

He had a few games in a row didn’t he when Grix was injured and everyone was calling for him to return ASAP. They even tried Rocky infront of him which admittedly didn’t work but why would that even go through Chester’s mind?
