Very important signing.
Glad he's staying.

IT is good news but even at a relatively stable club like ours you have to wonder what’s it’s actually worth. Nearly six years at any club is a long time.

If he gets to the end of it he will have done great and we will almost have certainly won or got very close to winning something.

So here’s to CC

Fully deserved and Chester is one of the best up and coming coaches in the game and British of course.
As Vatman says, Chester (with a little help from MC) has brought stability to the club and has Trinity punching well above their weight.

WE can but dream of playing out of a modern stadium, which is probably the main issue holding the club back and preventing us taking the next step.

I know that SL survival has to be a primary aim every season as relegation would be massively harmful to the club but, I would love for Trinity to plan their campaign around getting to Wembley.

Just imagine the lift in profile, supporter numbers, merchandise, season ticket sales and interest in the city that this would bring

I think there comes a point where you stop punching above your weight after a sustained period of success. Wakefield are now a serious side to be contended with, who should have aspirations of pushing for a play off spot.

I actually think given some of the signings coming over we could be in for one of the best SL years for a long time, and you lot will play a big part in that. You never know Broughy could be the catalyst for that next push should he be in it whole heartedly

With Vasty's caveat - that these things are often symbolic - it's good news nonetheless; shows stability and real intent to push on - and there can be no doubt that Chester has done a really good job for us.

Interesting to note some of the comments on the VT from supporters of other clubs - that MC must be lying about our salary spend, or falling back on the old guff about the stadium - it suggests that our steady, consistent move away from being an easy 2 points has a few people rattled; given the change of structure next season and the scramble for places, the fact that we're going in with a largely settled squad, and now Head Coach, and some consistently decent results behind us, upsets the equilibrium a bit.

It would be great to be in and amongst the top 4 - but I can't confidently predict it; another season of mixing it well and ending up safe would do me - but bagging a few of those that got away last year could yield a surprising outcome.

I disagree strongly with this Mr Pimp

For a club with our resources, we should be finishing in the bottom 2,3,4 league places.
Clearly, anything above this is indeed punching above our weight.

It cant be stressed too strongly just how well MC and Chester are performing.
As I said in a thread on the VT, Trinity are pound for pound THE best side in SL and if you were to give our budget to ANY of the coaches in the top 4, they would be nowhere near 5th spot in the comp.

I agree Wrencat, but I suppose you could also look at it another way and say that OUR TEAM(built on a low budget as it is) IS NOW actually good enough to challenge the top 4 - by the team playing as expected and not exceeding expectations.

I just don't get this this terminology that were punching above our weight,
why should we be finishing in the bottom of the table,
its just a saying said to keep someone down or make them feel inferior,

the sooner the mentality changes that we are a not a bottom side the sooner we will bring silverware, take note on the VT amount of other team fans suggesting we will drop this year, never have I ever expected more from this years side than any other year.

no pressure there then :)
