If Hampshire doesn’t want to resign then that’s entirely his prerogative just as it is the clubs prerogative to offer him a deal they deem fair and fits with the salary cap structure.

However should he not want to resign he wouldn’t be first choice in the team for me. Max is signed up (to my knowledge) and is more than capable at at fullback. So for me he’d be first choice full back with Miller and Brough I’m the halves.

You seem to be making this Hampshire thing very personal, why is that? You tell me what he’s on and how you know that and I’ll gladly take your word.

not calling my bluff vasty you made a statement that money had been an issue throughout his career so I asked you to enlighten me on this, over to you the floor is yours.

Not just Rocky with a contract offer that lapses on 31 May, sure i've read that we offered Kershaw and Crowther as well but they haven't signed unless i've missed something. I'm sure it's just agents doing their job, waiting until they can get an idea of interest from other clubs to benchmark Wakey's contract offer against. That said it seemed a struggle to get a deal over the line for Rocky last year, hope it gets sorted

Why do people see this as an issue.
I've worked at 10 companies in my life. One as short as 6 months one as long as 11 years. I didn't move to any of them for less than I was previously on.
Money isn't the only thing that's important about a job but it's the only thing that pays your mortgage so to suggest Hampshire should be any different is pretty hypocritical if you ask me.
We'd all want to get the best deal we could.

I can’t fault any player for trying to get as much as they can as it is a short career.

I don’t think any job is solely about money though...I’ve taken a pay cut before...it meant less travelling, shorter hours...more family time...I wouldn’t swap that decision for any amount of money...I missed a large chunk of my eldest growing up thinking earning money was more important...I didn’t realise it at the time but when I was able to watch my youngest grow in those precious years I would have done anything to give up that extra money I earned to get that time back...

Family and being happy what you do should come miles in front of any amount of money...

I like Hampshire as a player...he’s slowly realising his early potential with us and I’d love for him to sign and that to continue...I genuinely think him moving on would be a career mistake as I think we can offer him the opportunity to show his talents week in week out for the next few years...after that, if we haven’t kicked on as a club but he has as a player then he’s still young enough that a bigger move could be on the cards...

A big decision for him.

I agree that why I said I wasn’t judging him. If money is his bottom line that’s fine but it works both ways and some seem to think we owe him a certain loyalty and that I dispute.
