Interesting reading the off the record rumour page. Which tbf isn't far off with accuracy that another club has made rocky a contract offer which was less than we had. Both he and more so his agent. Show me the money. Think he's worth more.. Hope we keep him but if his agent thinks he's worth more then fair enough.

The truth is that he was offerred a deal 85 days ago and has never come back with a response other then after 70 days, it’s not enough via his agent.

Fine I can accept that, I did make it rather clear it was not from anyone involved.

Rocky is our best player, so for 70 days the coach comes into work, shares the same working space with Rocky, travels with him to away games, one would hope that presumably they talk tactics, have lunch etc etc and not once did the coach think it might be a good idea to mention the offer the club had made, to get some feedback, to see how the lad felt about the offer. Perhaps even suggest to the Chairman or who ever has ultimate responsibility re player signings that would it be a good idea to have a meeting with Rocky to discuss feelings and a way forward. The coach must have been concerned that he was in danger of loosing his prize asset. Then again our coach didn't think we were in a relegation battle so maybe it is conceivable that the coach and player haven't had a chat.

1) it's not Chester's negotiation
2) Hampshire isn't a kid. He is responsible for his own contract
3) Just because you don't like him doesn't make everything Chester's fault.

If he didn't reply to a contract offer for 70 days, which seems to be the current understanding, then yes.

One side of the story, maybe the whole truth maybe not but I think it’s a bit poor to come on here and blame one side without adding any context.

Was there a deadline set, did the club ever seek to speed up an answer, was Rocky aware that time was an element, did the club know why Rocky took so long, did Rocky have some mitigating circumstances that prevented him from replying, did the club do anything to speed the process at all?

It’s hard to believe that a player can attend the club almost everyday for 10 weeks and nobody sought to sit down with Ryan at some point to ask where he thought his mind was.
