Last Sunday when we were ten points down and five minutes to go there was a scrum called on our 25. One player ( cannot remember who ) called for the players to firm a quick scrum and stop the clock but no one seemed interested. I know it was a long shot that we could score twice in a few minutes but in previous seasons players would have been rushing to form the scrum . That said it all for me .I have no idea why but the attitude is all wrong. We seem to be accepting defeat too easily.

I noticed that as well. Even if scoring didn't give us a chance to win the match it could make a points difference in the final league standing. If we avoid relegation I also want to be above Shuddersfield.

Forming a quick scrum doesn't matter anymore with having a shot clock.

Think it does. The time keeper still stops the match clock and the shot clock runs independently.

This is correct, when a team forms the scrum, the ref raises both arms to stop the official time keepers clock although the shot continues.

But all forming the scrum saves you is a few seconds now.
And to be honest, the pressure is on the attacking team to put the ball in. No point helping them by forming the scrum now.

From memory, the ref stopped the clock when we packed down six, but then waved it off immediately when someone stepped out of it to swap places, as I think the clock only stays stopped if the six who packed down stay in.
