Was there for that, not condoning what happened,but he penalised Wakefield remorselessly that day with little going against Sheffield.
Despite all the talk on here of todays referees, and their apparent bias, they have not come close to what happened that day.

If I remember right think he got chased of Wakefields ground more than once. My favourite memory is a Wakefield fan who was a lady attacking Eric Clay at the end of a game at Odsel with her umbrella

According to an official who went to see Karl Kirkpatrick after he was chased from the pitch, Kirkpatrick wanted to report someone for hitting him on the backside with an umbrella during the chase. After discussing it with the police he decided not to take any option. On leaving the dressing room the officer said 'After that performance I'm surprised they didn't shove it up his backside and open it'

Ah yes! Remember that Kirkpatrick incident well. Chased off by fans then under police escort. Statement from Club said that those doing the chasing would be banned "sine die", but I still saw them attending matches for years after.

I'm sure that it was 2 brothers that chased him off the pitch.

Also remember a wakefield fan entering the field when playing wigan at home in the 90,s and giving the ref some advice, lol
