It has been reported that another trinity all time great has died on the 19.8.19 - Gary Cooper, aged 80.
For me this is very sad to me in that I well remember him, with out a doubt he was the best Attacking full back i ever saw, the pace & range of his skills & deceptive running at the defence line was awesome. He also got the Harry Sunderland trophy against HKR final where we were double champions, he toured in 62 when the GB side was the last side to beat the Aussies - winning the Ashes series, they were given no chance but their football won plaudits even from the Aussies.
R.I.P. Gary, up the trin.

Great player as you indicated. I only saw him play for Featherstone as I left England in 1966.

I was living in Aus. when the last GB side to win the Ashes toured. It was in 1970 and I went to all 3 Ashes matches. GB were hammered in the first in Brisbane but won the next 2 played at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Incidentally in the 1962 Ashes, Gerry Round the Wakefield fullback played all 3 matches in the win.

R.I.P. Gary.

Known as Gladys. Another of our greats to leave us this year.

Different rules but I remember him in a kicking duel with the opposition full backs at Belle Vue. The two teams just stuck in the middle. He was brilliant.

Saw him many times but I have a faint overriding memory of him scoring a try for us during the old Wills Embassy Sevens at Headingley, maybe very late 60s early 70s. Running under the sticks from well out and constantly glancing back over his shoulder at the chasing pack. We might have even won it that year?

Rings a bell. Way before my time but what a cool name, wasn't there an actor called the same? RIP but as with most from that era, a life well-lived.

Remember him saying he would win the Harry Sunderland trophy on Look North . He did! A tremendous attacking full back . Silky skills a joy to watch. RIP Gary.

Without doubt the best attacking FB I ever saw. A pleasure to watch him, thanks for the memories Gary and RIP.
