Reported yesterday on total rl that kirmond was staying . Same piece says Hampshire doesn’t have a club but refuses to bend on his ask from the club. Be interesting to see how this plays out

He did an interview with the YEP I think it was a few days ago. He was saying I don't want to blow my own trumpet.......but, i'm the leading tryscorer, 3rd on assists etc etc. Like you say, it will be interesting to see what happens, maybe also those deals with other players from other clubs may not be done and dusted, because there's still been no official announcements yet??

Don't think the League Express interview did him any favours with the club, especially the piece of meat quote. Think we've seen the last of him. Best of luck chasing that pot of gold.

“And finally, it has not been possible to agree a new deal with Ryan Hampshire, despite every effort being made. I wish him well in the future.”

From the club website.

There is an old saying that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. There is no way around that and it doesn't matter how many tries you score in a season. Ryan, we are all pieces of meat whether we like it or not. Shame but we move on.

I'm in 2 minds on this. He's a good player. I've enjoyed watching him and his commitment and effort throughout the season even though he knew his future was in doubt speaks volumes about his character.

But on the other side of the coin the annual "will he, won't he" saga is a bit of a bore and probably says an equal amount about his character

Sounds like abit of a stand off between club and player. I imagine there's always some wiggle room for extra cash when negotiating, but if he wants more than we can afford or think he's worth then it's a shame but good luck to him. Says alot if he's not had any other deals, or atleast ones that meet his demands.

I think this is the right call personally. Yes he is a very good player and a wakefield lad but he messed around with his contract at the end of last season and is doing the same again now.

If he thinks he is worth more than what we are offering then fine, see you later.

The years of our owner overspending are gone and i am thrilled about that. I do not want MC to give in to a player who demands more money if its not there to be spent. Its a slippery slope and could lead to other players taking the same stance.

Good on you MC, i think Walker will be a better full back than Hampshire, and look forward to see who else signs in the off season!

Why do you think that?
