if the rumoured new signings are true - westerman pitts walker woods - we look very thin in front row with only two out and out props signed for next year

Agreed, we would be way too light up front with the players leacving (both from the FT squad and the loan signings that helped us at the back end of the season.
The 3 loan signings, Green, Escare and Tangata were all excellent and even if those 3 stayed, which doesnt look likely, we would stlll probably nees a couple more players

Arona will play in the front row next year but yes we are looking paper thin in the front row. Need 2 or 3 decent props at least for me.

2 yes, 3 is a bit extreme.
So far we have

Koppy
Fifita
King
Arona
Gwaze

so a further 1 or 2 for me, but both should be quality.

I don't see Arona as a prop. We've clearly missed him at 13. He needs to play there.

Props for me are
Fifita
Kopczak
King

With Gwaze developing.

I'd happily add Tangata and Green.

I would agree usually, but after this season we have seen just how terrible injuries can be, and the pack seem to be the most prone in this game ! Maybe I am just been over cautious on this.

I think we've struggled this season with injuries in the forwards precisely because we had such a big pack, they struggled to manage the reduced interchanges which led to them playing more minutes leading to slower play and poorer technique which increased the chance of injuries.

I agree Arona is best at 13, however, we have to have some utility in the squad and he can play well at prop as can Tangonoa. I'd love is to have six specialist props but, one we don't have the budget and two there simply aren't enough British players out there to make up the numbers.

I hope Arona doesn't have to play much at prop but for the reasons I've given he has to be considered as one. So I do include him in the list but hopefully, with the addition of one or two more, he won't be used as such.

Truth is, now more than ever injuries are a huge factor in how a team performs in a season, hopefully, the reinstatement of the reserve competition will help get younger/fringe players up to speed more quickly and better still perhaps the trialist, especially those from RU may make a return, you never know we may unearth a gem.

Have to agree regarding Arona. He's not a battering ram, to me he's an out and out LF.
I feel ok with King as a prop because, despite not being the biggest bloke he has the grunt to do the job.
