Fishermans cap - If as Chester wants to sign another player what position do you think we should look at rather than hooker? Just interesting to have another view

My current opinion and it may change :D is that we should hold fire for now, unless there is an issue we don't know about.

We have four players coming back from big injuries and they are all top top players, TJ, Ashurst, Arone and Tupou. We will be very fortunate if all four of these players totally recapture there form and fitness this season, maybe never. So I'm tempted to see how it goes. Good NRL players and SL players especially loan players do generally turn up throughout the season.

Just my theory but if CC things he needs another hooker then fine but he seemed happy to run with two in previous seasons (Wood/Randell) and Randell was pretty injury-prone.

As someone else stated, it's not so much the position but the addition of some real class wherever that may be.

Fair comment and like you say there is always someone to pick up mid season. It would be quite something if we played the season with 2 quota available but this club always tend to come up with a bonus ball signing and with clubs in Oz facing challenges with the cap and most UK teams not having spots, it might be a good market for us either now or down the line.

Add Fafita to that list of players returning after serious surgery, his Instagram showed a photo of the surgical scar on his foot, it looked like they must have opened up the top of his foot. As Fishermans Clap says its not nailed on these procedures will have a 100 % positive outcome. We know that knee reconstruction takes time and real dedication to come back from, then Ashurst has had vertebrae fussed together which again doesn't sound good. That said these lads are tough tough men, there resilience , ability to overcome challenges never ceases to amaze me

But it's not 'enough said' really is it, that's a fairly meaningless statement in truth.

Are you saying that because Wood was injured last year that somehow means he can't have an injury-free season this year?

Likewise, Hampshire didn't miss a game through injury last year as far as I recall but he is unfortunately just as likely as anyone to cop a bad one this year. I just don't get what you mean. Injuries happen at all clubs, players can have a glut of them then go for years untroubled. It's usually very little to do with the previous years unless its a chronic injury, do you really think we sign players with chronic injuries? Enough said, to use your expression. :CHILL:

As the original post alluded to a case of emergency hooker, it would seem a shame not to use Broughie in that position if needed, and keep Rocky as the regular No 7.

Lomax is best example of that.
Missed multiple seasons with knee injuries and ops. Most clubs would have ditched him.
Sts now have one of the best players in the league and has been pretty injury free for a while now.
