My BV Vision : Wed Dec 04, 2019 3:58 pm
Just for my own personal pleasure really but I thought I’d share it with those who may be interested.Yes, I clearly have too much time on my hands, no I’m not Vastman because he’s the only person in the world with an old copy of Photoshop, I’m just interested.
For the pedants, I’ve checked my costing and my measurements even e-mailed the Construction company regarding the three smaller stands for costs.
The cost of the ‘additionals’ is a bit of an educated guess so you’ll have to run with me there. All the same, I did a bit of digging and I’m told by someone I know that you are looking at between 200-300k to remove the toxic North stand. The base for the South stand is more or less already there. The West terrace could be removed by volunteers quite easily, as much of it could be used as blast (I’m told). Floodlights are quite cheap these days, perhaps as little as 50k (I’m told). I’ve also factored in that we can use some volunteer labour as per Featherstone for, secondary electrics (lights, plug sockets etc), secondary plumbing (toilets, sinks, taps, showers etc), all decorating and most of the fitting out especially if we are lucky enough to find a plasterer. You get the idea.
In all seriousness, I’ve researched it and this is what I think we could get for 7-8 million, which is as far as I can tell is as low as you can get for a virtually new stadium that holds 10k+. It’s not the Wembley of the North I accept but it’s paradise to what we have now. It also keeps the feel of BV IMHO, a fans ground with mainly standing and access all-round yet it still has all the facilities required to make money and pamper to the corporates. It doesn’t need to be built all at once either but its a blueprint.
The three smaller stands are modular and use standard sized off the shelf metal work so will always be easy to build. Likewise, the North and South stand can be enlarged in future if need at a minimal cost.
Maybe a few errors here and there but it's not an actual planning application
Pipe dream I know, but I enjoyed myself! If you're not interested then fine, read something else, if you are constructive comments welcome.
