I know you can't please them all but I assume most players who've played for the club wish to still feel part of the club. I love initiatives like this, I doubt it will make huge amounts of money and will only appeal to some ex-players but it's there and to use the cliche every little helps. :thumb:

It's a great initiative and although we are not the only ones there aren't many clubs that do this.
Lee Robinson has been organising this for quite a while in terms of events and match day tickets but to formalise it like this and have such prestigious backing on the committee shows a real drive from all involved to build something worth shouting about.
I've been to some of these events and it is so good to see the old stars across all eras getting together and talking about old times. The 79 team reunion was a privileged to attend.

Has any sort of fund raiser been done by the forum users before? Not only for the subject of this thread which is obviously a great idea but just extra funds for the club.

I hate been pressured into donating to charity as I really don’t agree with some motives. I donate to a cancer research charity as it means something to me but often have heated discussions at work when I’m pressured into donating to charities that really don’t mean anything to me, so it got me thinking Wakefield Trinity means a hell of a lot to (I’m hoping) every one who’s contributes to this forum.

What do others think? If available would anyone donate money to the club.

Last time I can really remember a sort of appeal was when that "Dale" guy ran the club forum [what ever happened to him?] He was in charge of an appeal to finance an overseas tour by the Academy. I popped into his office in the Benidorm Flats and contributed but can't recollect if the event actually took place.
All lost in the fog of time.

Was it the tour when John Harbin was coach?
He took a tour to Australia, I've got a fund raising brochure somewhere. The players involved, if I recall correctly, were Keith Mason, Wayne McD, Ben Westwood, but for some reason Gareth Ellis didn't go. The players involved also did sponsored laps of Belle Vue.
I'll have to try and find the brochure.

Don’t know about anyone else but I could spare a few quid every month if it’s going to help. Even 100 regular people at £5 per month is an extra £6k for the year.

You can just join the lottery or one of the other initiatives at the club. Far easier.

That did pop into my head but just thought if it was simply a small donation from quite a few fans, it’s something the club don’t have to pay anything out on.

Just an idea mate, didn’t know if anything had done before. :thumb:
