Cold Light Of Day : Sat Feb 22, 2020 9:37 am
I held off commenting last night as I wanted to watch the game back, before reflecting.

I thought in the first half looked up for it and were worthy of our half time lead. For me, the turning point was the harsh sin binning of Bachelor.

From that point on, the extra man, and the numerous penalties we conceded, just drained our energy levels. Our discipline just capitulated in the second half, though I thought at times, Child was pedantic to say the least.

One player that really did look drained was Ashurst, and I am a big fan of his.

For me, if Fifita and Green are fit, along with King, I would bring them back, at least into the 21 man squad. Cant see Arundel being fit, and would give Ashurst a week off.

Not going to say too much about our defending out wide, as it's already been said, but no way is Tupou a winger. One question that baffles me is when did the club know about BJB's condition. Maybe they should have looked at bringing in an out and out winger. To me, it's a similar scenario with the Randell shoulder injury, picked up in 2018, not operated on until after week 1 of the 2019 season.

Not bagging Chester, but think his backroom staff need a shake up though, and bringing into 2020.

For me your post was doing well till you brought up Ashurst, I would say it was more a case of disappointment than being drained unless by that you mean physically drained with the stint he put in, and to suggest that he has a week off is just plain silly, him along with Westerman were our best forwards out there last night and you want to rest him after 3 games aye alreet.

Why comment on BJB condition if you don't know when the problem started, and just because in your mind Tupou isn't a winger that does not mean he isn't or can't fill in under the circumstances, if that's the case then surely that's Chester's fault, but by your own admission your not "bagging" Chester but blaming those around him who have been set on by his recommendation. :?

Think they all looked tired in 2nd half but not surprising in heavy conditions with 12 men and ill discipline meaning we never saw the ball

Only watched the highlights back and obviously the back to back penalties gifted them field position but some of our defence on the edges is poor. I know it’s a split second decision but the Tupou read is a shocker. I personally don’t think we’re aggressive enough in the tackle giving our defence less time to set and leaving ourself exposed.

Yesterday is now history, move on and next up it's Salford.
They are struggling at the moment so, it should be a good time to go over there and come back with something.
There are sure to be some changes in personnel, especially if the rumours on Hampshire are correct.

Maybe we could get Thurston in as a trialist
Edge defence needs to improve but, roll on next Sunday.

Thought the turning point was actually losing Arundel . We lost our shape etc just on halftime and never recovered. The ill discipline is shocking !! Need Fifita/King/Arona back asap ... Tupou back in the centre and Kershaw to the wing .. . Considering amount of ball Cas had in 2nd half thought we did well to keep the score down to what we did . Oh the fans with the flares and the constant “you cas .......” are an embarrassment !! Club needs to get rid !!

Ashurst suffered a very serious injury last season, and there was a moment in the second half, where he tackled someone and just when it was about completed, he fell off the tackle, it just looked like he was all in at that moment. I think the quick turnaround, after a serious operation, was just too soon. If the forwards are going to be freshened up, especially in the front row, the logical thing would be to bring Tanginoa back into a wider role.

As for BJB, he didn't take part in any pre season training at all, so the club must have known then, that there was potentially a serious issue with him, but like with Randell last year, seems a more, worry later situation, when an issue could have been resolved in better time
