Ironic : Fri Apr 03, 2020 1:46 pm
Hope everyone is well and coping the best they can in these difficult times, it does seem weird even contemplating the dates etc when sport returns, maybe some will find it insensitive etc to talk about such things which is completely understandable. Having read what has been said by Gary Hetherington etc, I do find it slightly amusing about him saying players shouldn't start whining and moaning if they have to play 3 games per week, when we would be now entering the Easter period having dropped a game because of player fatigue?! An interesting idea from Brian Mc saying the games could be reduced to 60 mins instead of 80???

I know Brian Mc isnt everyones cup of tea on here
.....but I have to say I do like the idea of a 60min game in four quarters and ?a five minute break in between - I would also say stick with the 8 available interchanges too.
at least it would be less of a burden on the players.
the piece is on the article below near the bottom of it.

Yeah I quite like what he has suggested, and also what Hetherington said about televising all the Challenge cup ties if they were to be played behind closed doors.

Leave it at 80 but increase interchanges to 12, so the big guys get a rest. If you go for 60, with regular breaks, teams will just play players who go hell for leather, like Partington, and may lead to more impact injuries.

I don't think the 60 mins will help if they are still having to play twice a week.
Not sure what will do it though.

I wonder what teams would look like if you can't play a player for more than 3 games in a row without a break.

I'm no good at maths, but I suspect that would be impossible for Toronto.

I suggested some time ago to play all the cc next round games at one ground over the one weekend behind closed doors. The bbc and sky could televise the games. It makes sence with cc attendances on the slide.

They've got no chance. They'll have to cut loose.

Now imagine the scenario with some sort of academy.

Recently watched the documentary that was put together, it's a really good effort but certain things have just been neglected for me and I'm not sure if it's due to arrogance or naivety.

It would be interesting for TWP, they were struggling to name 17 players :D
