That is utter nonsense. Those cases took place 30 years ago, how far back do you want to go.

The police force has changed dramatically since then and a repeat of that is a near impossibility. In fact in the current climate the police response would be the e act opposite and the two cases would be transposed.

Seriously this whole thing is as driven by overly virtuous white Poole desperate to display there liberal credential as black people.

It’s a witch hunt and nothing more and those supporting and driving it should be ashamed. History will judge you harshly.

The 2 convictions happened in 2012...8 years ago.

19 years after his murder. 3 of the others strongly suspected of being involved have never been brought to justice due to the nature of the investigation.

As I said though it is just an example. There are plenty more.

Unlike you I’m not here to preach though you have your opinion I have mine. If we agree or disagree that had no consequence on either of us.

I highly doubt given our exchanges we would agree on much. I won’t lose sleep over that I doubt you will either.

All the best.

I could be totally wrong but i think both codes of rugby in the uk have shown up well against racism compared to football.
I think when you try to convince people that racism excists your on a sticky wicket, my experience through work and personal is its out there and in some cases totaly in your face.
Its easy and convenient to put lack of opportunity
down to laziness but it many many cases its simply not the case. I have worked all my life ( om 64 this year ) and dont and never have expected any more than a fair crack and decent pay . Exploitation more difficult to get away with these days but given the opportunity people do take advantage..

Funny that because I thought he said in his Sky interview that his black coach in the international set up told him that because he was the only black person in the squad he would have to work harder as the other 39 whites did not want him there, not exactly the same is it.

On the taking the knee I agree with you Vastman. Being so organised takes something away from the point.
The brave one is now the one choosing not to take a knee.

The irritation to me is that the knee thing came from a player in NFL who wanted to protest against his country when the national anthem played. He was absolutely Bearsted right up to the president for it but he did it, affecting his career in doing so but made a point.
So to use that in this case I think is misleading. People think it is submissive but it was originally saying I'm not standing with you if you support a government that backs police to kill black people like we've seen some US police do recently.

So I don't really back the unilateral take a knee thing.
I just agree with those wanting to publicise the injustice in the system for people of black origin.

I strongly agree and support the original message of BLM. Same as I support Pride and women's rights.
I'm not out protesting I have to say. But if I see it I call it out.
As a middle aged white bald fat guy I probably don't need anyone to support me, those groups unfortunately do.

Re: O/T Politics and Pandemics : Wed Aug 19, 2020 4:43 pm
So Lorna Loomer has just won the Republican primary. If you don’t know she’s extremely right wing, she makes Farage look like a bleeding heart liberal.

Lefties and Liberals, wokes and all the easily offended this is your fault.

For the last twenty years you’ve sneered at, you’ve dismissed and derided the reasonable fears of ordinary people. You’ve branded them ignorant, racist and homophobic to name but a few for having the audacity to question your beliefs.

So where did you expect them to turn? Extremism breeds extremism and every time you slapped them down you pushed them into the arms of people like Trump and Loomer. Well done, you must be so proud.

So what that’s America. Well it isn’t it’s just the U.K. in two years time. The right will build momentum and support will arrive in Europe from the US as it always does.

Well you have your race war and class war and now you have polarised politics, great just great.

You’ve managed to destroy two of the most tolerant nations on earth because you are ignorant, petulant and above all arrogant.

The right will win. They have the money and they have the skills. Am I happy? NO, I hate extremist left or right. However anyone with a brain could see this coming. You keep telling people they are dumb then don’t be surprised when they are.

Loomer incidentally took 48% of the vote which is huge apparently. This confirms my worst fears, Trump will gain a huge majority and will get four more years. A disaster for humanity imho.

Don’t blame him, don’t blame the voters, there is only one grip at fault. Still I don’t suppose we will see them for dust when the right wing gains full power. They won’t be on the front line fighting on the streets, they will be hiding in their mansions denying everything.

This is an OT thread so excuse the length of my rant, but this development is scary.

I agree with your disappointment of extremism and of the lefties that blame everyone for upsetting them but the only people at fault for extremists gaining power are those that vote for them.

I don't see Trump as the worrying extremist, its not like he has unanimous support from the Reps, and presidents come and go.
No, I see the Dems as the worrying extremists, ideology doesn't reside with a few officials and hangers on.
Even considering the up and coming election, the Dems are truly shocking, I don't give a **** shocking.
So shocking, you have to wonder what their strategy for gaining power is, because it certainly isn't to win an election.
Not too many dots to join there I don't think.
