I’ve not seen anyone comment on here about this new idea by the club. I made a donation yesterday, but the donations are made through PayPal, and I appreciate that not everyone has a PP account, so, for that reason, it may well put many people off joining this scheme. It’s an idea borrowed from HKR, and may provide some funds for our club.

Had a quick look at it this afternoon and whilst I think it is a good idea in principle, surely it would be better if you could choose a player to adopt ?? For example I would be more inclined to pay £50 to adopt someone such as Toppo or Solomona etc, rather than be allocated a "John Smith" who might have played 2 games for us in 1974 !! Perhaps the club could list and update the website weekly with which former players have been sponsored and by whom to give it a more personal touch??

All that would happen then is, the 20 "names" people want go for £500 and the 1200 "John Smiths'" go unsold.
This is the right way to do it.
If it helps you, If I get Toppo, Fox or Sololmona, I'll sell him to you!

I think the idea is that more will take part if there isn't a set or minimum donation. If you or others are willing to give £50 for a certain class of player would this be more profitable than relying on 50 fans paying £1??? Probably. It's just another simple fundraiser for me and I'm happy to get whoever comes out of the hat for my reasonable donation.
Apart from Scott Grix .
Over £1000 already. Good start.

It’s a bit of fun and will raise a bit money for the club. What I like about it is the kids can put a few pence in from there pocket money and they’ll get a name back and maybe go and research the club’s history a bit. Adults can chuck a bit more in if they want and plenty of people are asking for other ways to put money in to the club currently.

Emailed club and asked if there's another way to pay. Not had a response yet!

...I get both sides of the argument so why not go for a combination of the two.....list the more desirable players at say £100 each, mid-level players at £50 each and then the remainder at whatever people want to pay ??
Or even auction off the most desirable players to the highest bidder ??
