Team Selection : Mon Aug 10, 2020 8:00 am
Has Chris Chester lost the plot? playing a full back at scrum half, and a player that can play half back at full back?.
Not only that gives the kicking duties to Gigot, when Jowett is a more competent kicker. This selection cost us the win!...

I don’t think he has but you might have. CC has made it clear that he sees Jowitt as a HB and I thought he went ok yesterday. Gigot has played the vast majority of his game at FB, he has played in the halves but rarely. It was the right choice in the absence of Hampshire.

Although a little slow to get going, yesterdays side went pretty well overall.
Getting done by a point, by the club sitting at the top of the pile, when we haven't played for over 4 months wasn't a bad effort.
Jowitt went pretty well, as did Gigot (apart from the conversion attempt that hit the post).

How many on here missed Danny Brough not playing,- probably the biggest compliment that Jowitt could have.

To be fair once the cobwebs were blown off the squad looked freer without Brough, I haven't seen Millar take on the line that much for a while. We will miss his kicking game but other than that I am looking forward to seeing Jowitt develop in the halves.

Thought that neatly summed up my feelings , we made a few mistakes both individually and as a team, but if someone had told me we’d lose by a point pre match would have been delighted.

Actually thought gigot and jowitt played ok apart from the obvious - small things cost us the game - it’s always easy to blame the kicker and someone actually trying to create

Watching Wakefield home away and on tv is still by far the best way to spend an afternoon !

Wigan loaded their right side defence to counter our threat of Johnstone, Tupou and Miller and we got very little joy from there even though we grossly overplayed that side and almost froze Max out of the game.
Once we moved the ball in both directions Wigan became stretched and despite his inexperience as a SL half, Max provided two sublime passes to create tries. He must have the best pass in the club.

Max as the best pass at the club .The main problem is we took a gamble on Brough which as fired big time so we are now trying to fit square pegs into round holes .Hope we have learnt our lesson and get a younger proven half of we could be left behind next year

He does and has vision that will only improve.

Max sees himself as a half and Gigot sees himself as a fullback.

Regardless, Chester knows far more than the keyboard coaches on here, so I'll defer to his preferred selections.
