My brother who is in his seventies has had his date brought forward 3 times apparently because they are delivering the vaccine much quicker than anticipated so it's certainly gathering pace. Fingers crossed it continues.

Looks like they are going to half the distribution in Yorkshire and the North East cos we are doing such a good job, and here’s me thinking that prevention is better than cure

According to the latest info on the Goverment website re the covid 19 jab, the jab does not actually prevent you getting covid; you can still get infected, but it can stop you getting seriously ill if you do get the virus. They also state that at the present time, they do not know if it stops you passing on the virus if you become infected.although they say experts do expect it to reduce the risk. Looks like the restrictions / lockdowns are not going to be lifted anytime soon then.

I'm a happy depressive - the glass is half empty but the bar is open.

Got my jab this morning, booked in for the second jab 2 weeks tomorrow.

I got the Oxford/AstraZeneca one and not going to lie, it has left me feeling slightly unwell (Probably me just been soft, I am sure Try scorer would be right in this case :D ) as it has quite a few of my colleagues, nothing too major though!

I've read that having slight side effects is a sign that the vaccine is working - similar to the flu vaccine when they say you might have slight headaches, aching arm, etc., for a day or so - it shows the vaccine is fighting what it is meant to do. It was mentioned in the current issue of Private Eye by their medical correspondent MD (Dr. Phil Hammond, usually talking sense from my point of view)

That is correct. I remember having a jab for Typhoid I think as a kid and that really hurt, knocked my dad out for a few days. That was the early 1970’s and I’m sure it’s now more refined but the principle is the same. I assume it has to cause a reaction to work.

I caught typhoid twice in Africa I had the jabs thought I was immune like you would but actually the typhoid jab is only 70%ish for immunity. Typhoid is not pleasant I can vouch for that!
