Being an actual colour retoucher amongst other print related jobs, retouching faces is by far the easiest thing to do and totally undetectable when done well despite what people say.
So it may well have been if Dave were vain enough to slip the photographer a few quid, I’ve certainly made e few bob in the past
All the same I’ll give him the benefit for now.
