Do you expect people to be happy after the start we’ve made? I for one was expecting us to change how we play at least a little bit but once again we have no idea when we get to the oppositions try line. Any other team that had the possession we had in that first half would’ve made Wigan pay.

What about the sieve at the other end? 11 tries conceded in 2 games. All this talk of new coaches and a supposed big improvement. I can take 6 apiece at half time in a tight game. What I can't stand to see is a carry over from the last 2 seasons conceding try after try. We have got to get that right or we haven't a cat in hell's chance.

Whilst we struggled to get over their line when we had all that possession an territory and did indeed look a bit devoid of ideas, I felt we showed a level of intensity not seen for the best part of 2 years in the first 50 minutes and was actually pretty pleased. For whatever alleged shortcomings Wigan had in personnel no one can say they weren't very tough (and sometimes downright dirty) in defence which gives some context to our failure to score more.
That soft Hardaker try took the wind out of our sails and then we crumbled which is admittedly worrying, but for Chester to blame it all on the attitude of the players I can't accept and if I was a senior pro hearing that I'd be wanting to knock his head off. It's such a lame easy deflection of responsibility away from himself. Overall there was no shortage of effort from the players and the buck rests squarely with him in the main for me

What decent side?

We are bottom 2/3 at best.

I genuinely wonder what people’s expectations are of this squad, and why they are so unrealistic.

I think because up until Easter 2019 we were flying pretty high. Most of the players that were doing well 2016-then are still here.

Kind of the point.

This squad is punching if it finishes above 10th in my opinion.

You could employ Craig Bellamy but not see much difference in our final league position.

Do you think our squad is not capable of winning more than 19% of its games. Strange because it has been a stable, not massively changed team for a fair few years which finished top 5 twice. My expectations are not unrealistic, I do think we have a team that should compete better than what is currently is. Ok expecting us to win the grand final, that’s unrealistic or maybe a top 5 finish this year Is massively unrealistic. Who knows, I just want to see a team on the field that competes and doesn’t consistently not play for the full 80 minutes like it has been doing for too long hence 19% of wins. Everyone has an opinion and expectations of anything in life don’t they, to me that doesn’t seem to much to ask for a professional sporting team.

As someone who was born in 69 when trinity’s glory years were coming to an end I don’t go into a season with either low or high expectations. Ive been fortunate to witness my club at Wembley as a 9 year old to watch Wally Lewis in our shirt and then travelling onThe supporters bus to huyton, far town and Blackpool in the dark days.
What I will say is the club at the moment is showing no ambition or giving the fans hope that Wakefield like castle Ford or Salford can go to Wembley or a grand final, we are simply accepting mediocrity and carrying on the same way year after year.
Whilst we may not have the best players in SL, there is simply no excuse, win or lose in getting the best out of them. We’ve got some fast backs so change things and give them every opportunity to succeed because all we do is play the same way every week against every team.
I thought Chester’s comments after the game were totally wrong last night, we are where we are and the players had a poor attitude, it’s just throwing them under a bus again and not accepting you and you alone are responsible for putting them out to play like that. Quite frankly they look all over the shop and need organisation, we’ve got what we’ve got organise it play to a plan that suits OUR PLAYERS and get the best out of them

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Re: Taxi for Chester? : Fri Apr 02, 2021 6:37 am
I don't mind us being out-classed, I DO mind us being out-enthused.

Chester has shown time and time again that he has no way of getting the best from his players, getting them to play as a team, and getting them to be enthusiastic.

All we're seeing is a bunch of individuals who are going through the motions to draw a wage, and that attitude can only change when they are given some direction and support to change. Chester isn't capable of acheiving this.

Have to say thought the effort and commitment from the players was immense in the first half - but in 2 games we haven’t looked like constructing a try near the line - the one last tackle play with any quality was the Lino chip - other than that can’t think of one.

Our completion rate was actually better than Wigan’s

Our pack for long periods were on top. Who precisely wasn’t trying ? Thought arona carried unbelievable amount of ball, Dave looked very sharp, Pitts had a decent dig, ashurst tried, crowther for all his faults always gives 100 percent , westerman led in both yardage and tackles at half time -

We said when we didn’t score that eventually Wigan would have their turn on top and they would score - which they did and once they got a roll on we just couldn’t keep up the intensity.

If as Chester says there is a lack of effort he’s had a complete close season to get the team motivated - if he hasn’t achieved this in the last two games then will he - buy his own admission he can’t get the best out of the players so how can we continue with him as a coach ?
