Squad imbalances. : Sun Apr 11, 2021 4:39 am
The squad imbalances are down to Chester it was clear to see we were going into the season way short in the pack. For me we have 2 props at the club Fafita and battye. Arona is a 13 he is even smaller this year not a prop, Tanginoa 2nd row his threat is nullified as a prop. Green I'm not even calling a prop don't no what he is same with tangata. We have 4 decent wingers at the club which is crazy we can stick a centre out there or Hampshire if needs be as a 4th wing man cover. Our pack is getting dominated far too often. It points to one man Chris Chester imbalanced squad.
This was clear at the start of the season and it's proven correct could see it a absolute mile off.
Take my hat off to westerman at the moment he is the closest thing we have to a strong running forward and he's from Cas lol.

Navarette should probably have been signed on a 1 year deal as he was aggressive and always made yardage. Should have released Tangata at the end of last season..flattered to deceive SL quality.. A big experienced NRL prop was required 4 months ago.

Arona is to o small for prop and is a 13.

Think alot of the new additions and retentions have been poor over last couple of years but money will dictate that so its unfair to be to critical of the club it is what it is...

The one which i find bizare though is lino it was said week after week that we needed a propper 7 somone to direct and organise us round the park and somone with a good kicking game and he isnt that deffo doesnt appear to have a kicking game.

Couldn't agree more, regarding Arona, and we also currently have Crowther and Westerman, who are more than capable of playing there. As much as I like Arona, and his work ethic, could that quota spot be better used now for another position in the team. We also have Green, who despite being a big lump, doesn't play to his weight.

Its gone a bit quiet on AF just of late, but we really do need to properly bolster the front tow, and fast, not to mention, we need to strengthen our hooking problems if we're not going to utilise Bowes. Jordy is not the long term answer, and I don't think Miller is now either

I just don`t agree on Arona, wherever he plays, he never looks out of place to me, he mr reliable and we are a better team with him on the pitch.

He has lost a bit of weight in the off season, I believe at the ask of the coaching staff but he can still do a good job at prop

At the moment think a large part of the problem is our lack of self belief. Yes the squad is unbalanced, could argue that arona is a bit light at moment etc etc but for me we need a leader on the field and a spark

We’ve had far worse playing rosters than this that have managed better win averages / mainly as a result of the sum total of the team being better than the individual parts

At the moment our issue is that the individual parts add up to less than the whole.

To me it’s a leadership and belief issue not tinkering with marginal differences in the squad

On the arona v crowther v westerman at prop - westerman is our best loose forward by a mile this season, crowther is a great squad player who fills in - would switching arona and westerman make any difference to the second half collapse or our inability to score tries - definitely not

He was more effective playing 13 than playing prop.
The bloke will run his blood to water but, using him to take the ball up is not making the best of his talents.
Of course he'll bust a gut, he always has but, prop isnt his best position and it's costing us.

Think it's the coach that's costing us just fitting square pegs in round holes We ad the best second row player I have seen at Wakefield for a long time .He is now used as a prop and does not look like the same player

Totally agree.
Tanginoa if used right would be devastating out wide.
Arona never was a prop although he’s Trinity through and through and does his best in that role.
We’re two good props short.
